EC12

The document discusses the Maximum Power Transfer Theorem, applicable to both AC and DC circuits, but not to unilateral and non-linear networks. It outlines three cases for calculating load impedance based on the nature of Thevenin impedance, and notes that only 50% efficiency is achieved in DC networks due to voltage drops across source resistance. Additionally, it prompts the reader to find load resistance and impedance for maximum power transfer.

3. Maximum power transfer theorem

● Applicable for AC as well as DC circuits

● Not applicable for unilateral and non linear networks

● Case 1:

When load impedance and Thevenin impedance, both are complex,

Then for MPT

ZL = Zth *

● Case 2:

When load impedance and Thevenin impedance, both are real,

Then for MPT

RL = Rth
