ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my subject teacher for
giving me the opportunity to complete this project on “RO Water
Purifier”. This project helped me gain better knowledge about water
purification and its importance in our daily life.
I am also thankful to my parents and friends for their support and
encouragement throughout the completion of this project. Lastly, I thank
all the sources that helped me directly or indirectly in completing this
project successfully.

1. INTRODUCTION
Water is one of the most important natural resources on Earth. All living
organisms depend on water for survival. However, due to increasing
pollution, industrial waste, and dissolved impurities, natural water
sources are no longer completely safe for drinking.
RO (Reverse Osmosis) water purifiers are widely used today to purify
drinking water. They remove harmful impurities, dissolved salts, bacteria,
and viruses, making water safe and healthy for human consumption.
2. PROPERTIES OF WATER
Water has several unique properties that make it essential for life:
Water is a colourless, odourless, and tasteless liquid.
It is known as a universal solvent because many substances dissolve
in it.
Water exists in three states: solid (ice), liquid (water), and gas
(water vapour).
It has a high heat capacity, which helps regulate temperature.
Water is essential for digestion, circulation, and metabolism in
living organisms.
3. NEED OF RO (REVERSE OSMOSIS)
RO water purification is needed due to the following reasons:
Removes dissolved salts (TDS) from water.
Eliminates harmful bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms.
Improves the taste, smell, and quality of water.
Makes contaminated water safe for drinking.
Helps prevent water-borne diseases like diarrhoea and cholera.
4. DIFFERENT TYPES OF RO FILTERS
RO water purifiers use different filters for purification:
Sediment Filter – Removes sand, dirt, and dust particles.
Carbon Filter – Removes chlorine, bad taste, and odour.
RO Membrane – Removes dissolved salts and heavy metals.
UV Filter – Kills bacteria and viruses using ultraviolet rays.
UF Filter – Removes microorganisms without electricity.
5. FEATURES OF DIFFERENT MODELS OF RO
Different RO models have different features such as:
Wall-mounted and table-top designs.
Multiple purification stages (RO + UV + UF).
Different storage capacities (5–10 litres).
Energy-efficient and water-saving technology.
Smart indicators for filter replacement and water level.
6. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS, POLICIES OBSERVED WHILE INSTALLING, REPAIR
AND MAINTENANCE OF RO
To ensure safe use of RO water purifiers:
Installation should be done by trained technicians.
Power supply must be switched off before maintenance.
Only genuine spare parts and filters should be used.
Filters should be cleaned and replaced regularly.
Manufacturer’s guidelines and instructions must be followed.
7. CONCLUSION
RO water purifiers play an important role in providing clean and safe
drinking water. They help remove harmful impurities and protect us from
various water-borne diseases. Proper installation, regular maintenance,
and correct usage of RO purifiers ensure good health and safe drinking
water for everyone.
