I. Background and Rationale

In line with the implementation of the Multi-Year Performance


Management and Evaluation System (PMES) for School Years 2025–2028
under DepEd Memorandum No. 89, s. 2025, Elementary School conducted a
Learning Action Cell (LAC) session focusing on Classroom Observation. The
activity aimed to orient teachers on the updated performance management
framework and emphasize classroom observation as a developmental and
formative process aligned with the Philippine Professional Standards for
Teachers (PPST).

II. Objectives

1. Orient teachers on the PMES 2025–2028 framework with emphasis on


classroom observation;
2. Clarify the process and stages of classroom observation, including pre-
observation, observation, and post-observation conferences;
3. Strengthen teachers’ understanding of PPST-aligned indicators used in
classroom observation; and
4. Promote classroom observation as a tool for professional growth and
instructional improvement.

III. Highlights of the Activity

The LAC session began with an overview of DepEd Memorandum No.


89, s. 2025, highlighting the three-year PMES cycle and its focus on sustained
teacher development. The School Head discussed the role of classroom
observation within PMES and its connection to coaching, mentoring, and
professional development planning. A detailed discussion followed on the
classroom observation process, including the use of PPST-aligned observation
tools and the importance of evidence-based feedback.

IV. Results and Insights


The session resulted in improved understanding among teachers
regarding the purpose and process of classroom observation under PMES.
Teachers gained clarity on expectations and recognized the value of
observation results in improving instructional practices and informing
Individual Development Plans (IDPs). The session fostered openness to
feedback and strengthened collaboration between teachers and school
leaders.

V. Conclusion and Recommendations

The LAC session on PMES 2025–2028: Classroom Observation was


successfully conducted and achieved its objectives. It reinforced the role of
classroom observation as a supportive and reflective practice aimed at
improving teaching quality and learner outcomes.

1. Conduct follow-up LAC sessions focusing on priority PPST indicators;


2. Strengthen coaching and mentoring support for teachers;
3. Ensure consistent and constructive post-observation conferences; and
4. Use classroom observation results to guide school-based professional
development activities.
