Polygon Album

Polygons are classified into convex and concave based on their angles, with convex polygons having all angles less than 180° and concave polygons having at least one angle greater than 180°. They can also be categorized as regular or irregular based on the equality of their sides and angles, with regular polygons having equal sides and angles, while irregular polygons do not. The document also explains the naming convention for polygons based on the number of sides and describes key elements of regular polygons.

CLASSIFICATION OF THE

POLYGONS
Polygons are classified according to their shape, by the number of their sides, and by their measure.
of its sides and internal angles.
According to their shape, polygons can be convex and concave.
CONVEX POLYGON: When none of its internal angles measures more
of 180°.
CONCAVE POLYGON: If any of its angles is greater than 180°.
NOTE: If when drawing the diagonals of a polygon all are contained within it, the polygon is
Convex, but if it has at least one diagonal outside, the polygon is concave.

Polygons are classified according to the measurement of their sides and internal angles into Polygons.
irregulars and regular polygons:
IRREGULAR POLYGON:An irregular polygon is called a polygon
whose sides and interior angles are not equal to each other. Polygons
irregulars do not have all their sides equal. Their vertices are not
inscribed in a circle. These irregular polygons have the advantage
that a compass is not needed to construct them as is the case with the
regular polygons, you only need a ruler to connect the points
to form the irregular polygon with different sides but one point not
More than two points can be connected, because otherwise it would form two.
joined or continuous polygons.
REGULAR POLYGON: It is a polygon in which all its sides and
angles have the same measurement. Regular polygons are called a
name special according tohe number of sus sides.

By the number of sides

The names of polygons are formed by prefixing the word
Greek "gono", which means side, the prefixes that indicate number:

By the type of angles

They are called convex polygons those in which all
Its angles are less than 180°.
We call concave polygons those that have at least one
angle that measures more than 180°.

Regular and irregular polygons

If all its angles and sides are equal, it is regular.

Elements of a regular polygon

Center: inner point that is equidistant from each vertex.

Radius: segment that goes from the center to each vertex.
Apothem: distance from the center to the midpoint of a side.
