General Information
Cancer Charitable Trusthas been able to help patients and their families in more
ways than just financial. We understand that cancer is a time bound treatment
and help needs to come at the right time, before the disease progresses. Since
this gap between the time-bound amount required and financial capacity of the
patient seeking treatment is the maximum at Tata Memorial Hospital.
We have also ensured that there is “0” ADMIN COST. Cancer Charity Trust does
not retain any part of the donation made. All operational cost, including efficient
donor database maintenance, profile creation, running the campaigns, providing
updates and transactional charges for the physical mandates are borne by the
Trustees and volunteers.

We ensure that the money donated by our esteemed donors are put to the most
efficient use and in the most transparent way possible. We also give regular
treatment updates and inform our donors on new campaigns, all through the
online Reevive platform.

Future Plans of the Trust:

To establish a medical center for the cancer patients from Tata Memorial
Hospital and provide shelter on permanent basis.

To construct primary health center to provide medical help to the poor and
needy.

Introduction

In spite of good advancements for diagnosis and treatment, cancer is still a

big threat to our society. This is the second most common disease after
cardiovascular disorders for maximum deaths in the world. It accounts for
about 23 and 7% deaths in USA and India, respectively.
The world’s population is expected to be 7.5 billion by 2020 and
approximations predict that about 15.0 million new cancer cases will be
diagnosed; with deaths of about 12.0 million cancer patients.
Cancer scenario in India

India recorded an estimated 3.9 million cancer cases in 2016, data available
with the National Cancer Registry Programme of the Indian Council of Medical
Research (ICMR) shows that the worst affected states were;
• Uttar Pradesh with 674,386 cases,
• followed by Maharashtra with 364,997 and
• Bihar with 359,228.
• In South India Tamil Nadu recorded 222,748 cases, Karnataka
202,156, Andhra Pradesh 159,696, Telangana 115,333 and Kerala
115,511 cases of cancer.
● The numbers are too high in UP, Maharashtra and Bihar because these are the
most populous states in the country.
● Over 7 lakh new patients are diagnosed with Cancer every year.
● Every 13th new cancer patient in the world is an Indian.
● India accounts for the 3rd highest no. of cancer cases among women.
Average Total cost for Cancer Treatment

About Us philanthropists in Mumbai. We are 80G certified.

● AIM: The primary focus was to support under-

resourced individuals and families affected by
Cancer.

● VISION - To create a community of giving in a

systematic and a regular fashion.

● Modus operandi - CCT functioned like a

traditional small-scale organization where funds
were raised with support from friends, family and
well-wishers, and redirected to patients at TMH.
● TMH is the premier cancer institute in the country.
THM receives 45,000 new cancer patients and 4
lakh + follow ups every year. 70% of the
patients have an annual family income below
50,000/- and when a family member gets cancer,
they have no resources to sponsor the treatment.
Therefore it is Mandatory to bridge the gap
between patients and donors.

● CCT launched it's crowdfunding platform in Dec

2017 called REEVIVE, where everybody can do
little and Reevive lives.

● But this was NOT ENOUGH! We urgently need to

do something bigger and better as a community.
So we can make a Larger impact.

HOSPITAL as campaigns, to raise funds
for a specific monetary target.

receive support.

● The intent behind Reevive is twofold - one, to
assist CCT in reaching out at a more scalable
Objectives level; and two, to inspire and celebrate the
noble act of givers.

● Reevive aims to touch lives of the most

deserving and constrained Cancer fighters and
showcase their spirit, and at the same time seek
out those who believe in the basic human
instinct of giving.

● Reevive’s primary object, is to keep the giver

informed and involved while assuring the
donation is only for his/her treatment for Cancer.
WHY TATA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL?

● TATA Memorial Hospital (TMH) - one of the

biggest cancer speciality hospital in the
country.

● TMH caters patients from socio economic

backgrounds.

▪ Along with social enterprises, microfinance
institutions and donors, corporates play a large
role in raising money and resources for Reevive.
▪ In the last four years, CSR in India has acquired new
impetus with the Companies Act 2013. The Act
defines that companies with a net worth of Rupees
CSR 500 crores or more, or a turnover of Rupees 1,000
Corporates Social crores or more, or earning a net profit of Rupees 5
Responsibility crores or more must spend a minimum amount on
corporate social responsibility.
▪ For many of India's most loved brands, 'giving back'
is not about fulfilling this legal obligation of having to
donate to charity, but generating goodwill in their
respective communities.
Reevive intervention in corporate social
responsibility;
▪ Many companies simply do not have the bandwidth
(employees, supervision) to undertake CSR
implementation. These companies not only need to
CSR spend on CSR, but also on CSR training for their
employees, or adding manpower dedicated to CSR
Corporates Social capability.
Responsibility ▪ Reevive has a streamlined, customised solution to
these corporates. The campaigns on Reevive give a
verified social and financial background of the
patients, and the donations received are followed up
with regular updates regarding the patients.
Reevive intervention in corporate social
responsibility
 Reevive accepts companies helping through CSR
as “Partners” which is displayed on the website.
 Currently we are donating 600,000/- per month
CSR towards help for patients at TMH. This was based
on monthly ECS donations and one time
Corporates Social
Responsibility donations. However, the requirement is larger, the
logistic challenges are bigger and we are
constantly falling short of our goals.
 A corporate giving through CSR can help us scale
the gap between the demand and supply

A look at India's NGO sector:

India possibly is home to the world's largest number

of active not-for-profit NGOs. At last count, India had
CSR 31 lakh NGO - one NGO for about 400 Indians. With
the boom in CSR funding, this number can cross 40
Corporates Social
Responsibility lakh - considering that there are thousands of public
and private sector companies worth Rs.15,000 to
18,000 crores annually. This number doesn't even
include India's actual number of NGOs, as many aren't
formally registered under the Societies Registration Act
1860, or any other Acts pertaining to non-profit
organisations.
