ADVANCED VISUAL DOCKING GUIDANCE SYSTEMS (A-VDGS) FOR PARKING
GATES / STANDS NUMBER 02 AND 03 AT SIALKOT INTERNATIONAL
AIRPORT (SIAL) SIALKOT

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION (Model T1)

Advanced Visual Docking Guidance is a non-contact-based guidance technology system. Using laser technology, a dynamic-
range finder laser sensor scans incoming aircraft vertically and horizontally, to capture and track the aircraft, which is compared
to the system’s comprehensive 3D aircraft model database. The docking controller then converts the processed data into precise
guidance information and displays it on the Pilot Display Unit (PDU), so pilots can dock the aircraft safely into the gate. The system
allows aircraft to park up to an accuracy of 10 cm using invisible infrared lasers to attain the aircraft's position and type for easier
docking.

The system gives the information to a pilot attempting to park an aircraft at parking stand/gate with much greater accuracy and
allows them to remain clear of obstructions and ensures prevent collision from static objects. This results in optimal safety,
increased efficiency and reduced power as well as aircraft fuel consumption.

The systems have emergency stop button located on the stand, which causes the stop indication to appear immediately.

It comes in a variety of models; the T1, the T2 and the T3. Red and yellow arrows indicate in which direction the pilot needs to
manoeuvre to be on the centerline. Each model has an S- variant (e.g., T1S), which also indicates the position of the aircraft
relative to the centerline. In either variant, a central yellow column disappears from bottom to top as the aircraft approaches the
stop point.

SYSTEM DISPLAY
The Pilot display incorporates three different indicators for alphanumeric, azimuth and closing rate information, clearly visible from
both pilot positions in the aircraft cockpit.

The Pilot Display comprises a set of LEDS (Light emitting diode) indicators, yellow and red indicators boards, each housing a
processor board connected in series to the Control Unit.

The upper rows are used for alphanumeric information, the next row for azimuth information and the lower section for closing rate
information.
