Precision alloys. Grades
Date of introduction 01/01/75

This standard covers precision wrought alloys & establishes requirements for the chemical
composition of alloys.
To precision alloys are relate high alloyed alloys with specified physical and physic -
mechanical characteristics requiring in some cases, the narrow limits of the contents of
elements in the chemical composition, the special technology of smelting and special handling.

1. Classification
1.1. On depending upon the basic properties of precision alloys are divided into the
following groups
1. Magnetic - soft with high permeability and low coercive force in weak fields
2. Magnetic - hard alloys with a given combination of parameters of the limiting hysteresis
loop or hysteresis loop, corresponding to the field of maximum permeability
3. Alloys with a given temperature coefficient of linear expansion (TCLE)
4. Alloys with given properties of elasticity with high elastic properties, in combination
with other special properties (high corrosion resistance, high strength, low permeability,
given values of the modulus of normal elasticity and temperature coefficient modulus of
elasticity)
5. Superconducting alloys are characterized by special electrical properties at low
temperatures
6. Alloys with high electrical resistance, have necessary combination of electrical and other
properties.
7. thermostatic bimetal, representing material, composed from two or more layers of
metals or alloys with different thermal coefficient of linear expansion, the difference of
which provides its elastic deformation when the temperature changes.

(Changed edition, change. № 5)

2. Grades and chemical composition

2.1. Chemical composition of the alloys must match specified in the Table. 1 - 7
Page 9
2.4. name brands of alloys except for group VI, consists of the letter symbols and elements of
the two-digit number before the letter is the average mass fraction of element in the
percentage included in the basis alloy (excluding iron).

Name brands of alloys of Group VI consists of the element symbols followed by a digit. The
digits following the letters indicate the average mass fraction of the alloying element in the
entire unit.

Chemical elements are indicated by the following brands of letters - Б -Nb (niobium) , В -
tungsten, Г –manganese , T-titanium, Ю - aluminum , X - Chrome , Ф - vanadium.

The letter A - in the end mark indicates that the alloy is made with narrowed limits of chemical
composition, the number 1 on the brand name 29 НК -1 and -29 НК - ВИ -1 indicating the
narrow limits of the rules TCLE .

The letter E on the name of the brand stands for magnetic alloy solid.
The sign <<- >>in the tables indicates that the mass fraction of the element is not regulated.

In the application of special methods of smelting or their combinations, vacuum induction and
electron - beam, plasma, electroslag (electrocinder ) and vacuum arc remelting of alloys
additionally denoted by dashes, respectively - ВИ , ЭЛ , П , Ш , ВД , and their chemical
composition must conform to the standards table. 1 – 7 if other the content of elements not
specified in the technical specifications for steel products.

2.3. 2.4. (Changed edition, change. № 5)

2.5. Exemplary function and the main technical characteristics of alloys are listed in the
appendix.
Chemical composition of the alloys is determined on one sample from the melt in accordance
with ГОСТ 12344- ГОСТ 12357. ГОСТ 12364 , ГОСТ -28473, ГОСТ 29095 or by other methods,
which provide the necessary accuracy, sampling, in accordance with GOST 7565. Gas content
determined according to GOST 17 745.
