AC RWA ResearchPaper

The document discusses the need for efficient Routing and Wavelength Assignment (RWA) techniques in Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) networks to manage traffic demands and optimize wavelength use. It critiques distributed RWA methods for their limitations and introduces an Advanced Centralized RWA (AC-RWA) protocol that leverages complete network state information and traffic prediction for global optimization. The proposed protocol aims to reduce blocking probability and enhance scalability in dynamic traffic environments.

Advanced Centralized RWA Protocol for WDM Networks

Abstract:

Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) networks require efficient Routing and Wavelength
Assignment (RWA) techniques to handle increasing traffic demands, reduce blocking probability, and
optimize wavelength utilization. Distributed RWA approaches suffer from inconsistent global
knowledge, limited scalability, and suboptimal wavelength selection under dynamic traffic loads. This
paper proposes an Advanced Centralized RWA (AC-RWA) protocol designed to maintain complete
network state information, utilize traffic prediction, and perform global optimization of routes and
wavelengths.
