Note: Completely clean the top of the engine block and the bottom of the cylinder head.

of the cooling liquid nor in the lubricant passages.

Note: Carefully clean the hole in the cylinder head for the gas that is vented from the crankcase.
Check if the hole is not blocked by debris and/or oil deposits.

1. Install the cylinder head gasket onto the guide pins (10) at the top of the
engine block.

Note: Do not use any sealant or compound on the gasket joint of the cylinder head.

2. Install the Tooling (A) on the engine block.

3. Use an appropriate lifting device to install the cylinder head.


The cylinder head weighs approximately 57 kg (126 lb).

Note: Make sure that the cylinder head is positioned on the guide pins (10).
Be careful not to damage the machined surfaces of the cylinder head during the
installation.

4. Remove the Tooling (A).

5. Clean the threads of the fastening screws that hold the cylinder head. Inspect the
screw bolts for fixing the cylinder head.

Note: Do not use the fastening screws if there is any visual reduction in the diameter of the
bolts (Y) that were not engaged with the engine block. Use a straight edge to check.

6. Apply clean engine oil to the threads and the protrusion of the fastening screws that secure it.

7. Install the fixing screws (8) on the cylinder head (9).

Note: The short mounting screws are installed in the holes marked with 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
and 10.

Note: The long fixing screws are installed in the holes marked with 1, 3 and
4.

8. Tighten the fastening screws in numerical order with a torque of 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
Refer to Illustration 3.

9. Tighten the fastening screws in numerical order with a torque of 100 Nm (74 lb-ft).

10. Use Tool (B) to obtain the correct final torque.

Note: If Tooling (B) is not available, place an index mark on each.

11. Tighten the fastening screws in numerical order. Refer to Illustration 3.

a. Turn the short mounting screws (2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10) by 225 degrees.

b. Turn the long fastening screws (1, 3, and 4) an additional 270 degrees.

12. Install the new sealing rings in O on the bypass tube (7). Apply the Tool (C)
the retaining rings in O. Install the bypass piping on the cylinder head. Install the
fastening screws (6).

13. Connect the piping set (5) to the cylinder head.

14. Connect the wiring harness (4) to the coolant temperature sensor.

15. Install the screw (1) and the fuel line on the cylinder head.

16. Fill the cooling system with coolant. Fill the system with
lubrication with engine oil.

Note: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refueling Capabilities"

End By:

a. Install the incandescent candles. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly Manual, 'Candles
Incandescent - Removal and Installation.
b. Install the rocker shaft and the valve control rods. Refer to Disassembly and
Assembly, 'Pivot of the Balancer and Valve Control Rod - Installation.'
c. Install the exhaust manifold. See Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Manifold -
Removal and Installation
d. Install the fuel injectors. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly Manual.
Fuel Injection Nozzles - Installation
e. Install the tube for thrust control.
f. Install the fuel priming pump. Refer to the Disassembly Manual and
Assembly, "Fuel Transfer Pump and Fuel Filter Base -
Removal and Installation.
g. Install the integrated air intake hose to the air filter. Refer to the information on the
OEM for more details.
h. Refill the engine with coolant and engine oil. Refer to the Manual of
Operation and Maintenance to obtain the correct procedure, the quantities, the specification
of the coolant liquid and the specification for the engine oil.
