Control and monitoring system of a greenhouse
INTRODUCTION
Greenhouses allow for greater control of the environment where plants grow. They are
used to increase the quality and performance of plantations in certain locations that
they have short growing seasons, or poor lighting conditions due to the
geographical locations, which allow for the improvement of vegetable food production in
extreme environments.
In this project, a model of a greenhouse has been developed and the use of
Arduino microcontroller and for a graphical visual programming language which is the
LabView, with the aim of achieving a control and monitoring task over that model.
On one hand, the Arduino board will be used as the control board of the system and at the same time as
data acquisition card, and on the other hand, an application will be developed in Labview to
monitor and supervise the state of the greenhouse.

CONVENTIONAL GREENHOUSES
The idea and need for this system dates back to 1850, when horticulture
Dutch began to use it for grape cultivation. It was discovered that the cultivation in
greenhouses with heating and with the highest level of glass increased the
performance. The plants grew faster when they were given more light and when
the warm environment was constant. This means that if there were no greenhouses, in the
The Netherlands could not exploit plantations only cultivable in warm countries.
The Earth's climate is chaotic and complex. It is due to a multiplicity of factors in the
that man has no substantial influence whatsoever. This directly affects the
different types of crops.
There are many advantages to having crops under greenhouse conditions, this prevents changes.
climate shocks such as temperature variation, scarcity or excess of humidity.
Crops can also be produced in the more difficult times of the year by taking into account
off-season harvests, altering the climate in regions and extending the cycle of
cultivation.
This increase in the value of the products allows the farmer to invest.
technologically in its operation improving the structure of the greenhouse, the
localized irrigation systems, climate management systems, etc., that are reflected
later in an improvement in performance and high quality of the final product.

vital importance as the optimal growth of plants can only be achieved within
of a certain range of humidity. Very high relative humidity favors the spread
from fungi, it causes diseases in plants and also damage to structures
of the greenhouses. Very dry environments slow down the growth rate of
Plants. The optimal relative humidity depends on the type of plant being cultivated although
The typical range is between 50 and 70%.
We will use a fan to provide the necessary air according to the type of plant.
for its optimal growth. This will be an important factor for during the late hours of
To ensure sunlight, it is necessary to circulate the air in the greenhouse homogeneously, in order to
to provoke gentle exchanges between the outside temperature, the inside temperature, the temperature of the fruit or
plant and thus limit the rise in temperature. Additionally, the lack of ventilation affects
negatively to the composition of the air. The entry of air is a source of
enrichment of CO2.
