ANNEXURE I
Introduction:
The Wellness Center serves as a pivotal resource for supporting the mental and emotional well-
being of our students, employees and even community members. As part of our commitment to
fostering a healthy and supportive environment, it is crucial to address the increasing demand
for professional counseling services.
Rationale:
In recent times, the prevalence of mental health challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression,
and substance abuse has risen significantly.
Studies indicate that access to counseling services enhances individual well-being, improves
productivity, and promotes a sense of community and belonging.
Addressing the issues highlighted above effectively requires the expertise of a trained counsellor
who can provide personalized guidance and support, including strategies for overcoming drug
dependency. The absence of a dedicated counsellor confines our ability to meet these growing
needs and poses a risk to the well-being of our community further limiting our capacity to meet
the needs of those seeking help
Furthermore, substance abuse and drug dependency can be regarded as one of the most pressing
issues, contributing significantly to various mental and physical health problems have severe
consequences, not only for the individual but also for their families, colleagues, and the broader
community. Having a counsellor can play a crucial role in supporting drug de-addiction
initiatives in the following ways:
1. Provide Targeted Interventions: Offer tailored guidance to individuals struggling with
substance use, helping them navigate their journey toward recovery.
2. Raise Awareness: Educate the community about the risks of drug use and the importance
of prevention.
3. Support Rehabilitation: Develop personalized recovery plans that include coping
strategies, relapse prevention, and referrals to specialized services if needed.
4. Promote a Healthy Community: Reduce the stigma surrounding substance use
disorders, encouraging individuals to seek help without fear of judgment.
Other benefits of hiring a Counselor:
1. Enhanced Mental Health Support: A trained counselor will provide individualized
guidance and coping strategies for those dealing with mental health challenges.
2. Crisis Intervention: Immediate professional support during mental health crises will
ensure timely assistance and prevent escalation.
We are at: Academic Block VI (Ground Floor) IUST
3. Preventive Measures: Regular counseling sessions can proactively address issues before
they become severe, leading to a healthier community.
4. Improved Retention and Performance: In an academic or workplace setting, mental
health support is linked to better performance and retention rates.
Proposed Action Plan:

3. Basic office supplies and technological equipment, such as a computer, printer, and

and benefits of counseling services at the wellness center. Key components of the campaign
include:

and drug de-addiction awareness to educate the community.
2. Digital Outreach: Leverage social media platforms, email newsletters, and the wellness
center's website to disseminate information.
