A signal is sampled at 8 kHZ and the following 16-point DFT is obtained from MATLAB as shown .

Determine all spectral information about the signal, amplitude, frequency, any other comments
A sequence x[n] given by𝑥 𝑛 = 𝛼 𝑛 u[n], assume 𝛼 < 1

What is this waveform?

Determine the DTFT of x[n] and its DFT

Compute the DTFT of x[n] and also X[k], fork=0,1,.. 5, : six-point DFT of x[n] in terms of twiddle factors
Is the system whose impulse response is given, causal ? BIBO stable?
You have to give the reason why.

Find y[n] using Z transform concept for the given x[n]

The system is non-causal, since there are non-zero values in the
impulse response h[n] for n < 0

The system is BIBO stable

Find the general transfer function and determine if the system is stable for k = 2;
Find and plot the magnitude and phase of this filter’s transfer function H(f)

Is this filter linear phase? If so what is its group delay?

How to find the type of filter? Hint : Check for which frequencies H(f) = 0
Time domain :Sampling interval is 1 micro-seconds
500 samples
K = 112 and 144
Also smaller peaks
K= 114 ,142
Given the digital system below, with input x[n] = [1 2 3 4] , the impulse response h[n] = 0 0 1 0 ,

Y[n] = ? Direct  [0 0 1 2 3 4 0 ]

Will you be getting the same result?

They are not the same. The linear convolution results in a sequence of 4+4 1=7 samples. This needs at
least a 7-point DFT to be represented without temporal aliasing. Instead, we multiplied the 4-point
DFTs of the sequences. This causes temporal aliasing: the first sample becomes 0+3, the second
sample 0+4 and the third sample 1+0.
the multiplication of DFT is equivalent to the circular convolution of the sequences.
Using the DFT, estimate the frequency characteristics of the CT signal
h(t) = 2exp(j18 t) + exp(−j8 t).
What is Nyquist rate ?
If we sample at 32HZ, give an expression for h[n] ? Is h[n] periodic? If yes,
determine its fundamental period . What should be the FFT size ?
Write an expression for the CTFT
Assume LTI system, Find the output y[n] and its Z transform Y[Z], Don’t forget the ROC
In exam you can give your answer in terms of A and B
if there is insufficient time for partial fraction expansion
Not included in theory , but we used this in lab
