TLE-DEPARTMENTAL LEARNING ACTION CELL

Theme: Turning Educators to Great 21st Century Innovation Leaders

Date: September 19, 2025

Reflection:

1. Choose 1 (one) of the 8 ways to embrace innovating teaching strategies in

the classroom to make teaching more interesting and relevant:

Teaching through collaboration- Teaching through collaboration means using a

learning approach where students work together in pairs or groups to achieve
common learning goals, solve problems, complete tasks, or create projects. Instead
of relying only on the teacher as the main source of knowledge, learners
actively share ideas, exchange perspectives, and build understanding
collectively.

In this method, the teacher acts more as a facilitator or guide, providing structure
and support while allowing students to take an active role in their own learning.
Collaboration emphasizes interaction, teamwork, and mutual responsibility,
where each learner contributes and benefits from the group process.

2. Apply this on your teaching strategy inside the classroom, and how it
improves the learning process of the learners.

Teaching through collaboration (also called collaborative learning) significantly

improves the learning process of learners because it shifts the classroom from a
teacher-centered approach to a learner-centered one, where students actively
engage, interact, and construct knowledge together . Here’s how it enhances
learning:

1. Deepens Understanding

 Learners explain ideas to peers, clarify misunderstandings, and defend their

reasoning.
 This process encourages critical thinking and leads to a stronger grasp of concepts.

2. Develops Social and Communication Skills

 Collaborative tasks encourage listening, negotiation, and respectful dialogue.

 Students learn to work with different personalities, improving teamwork and
empathy.

3. Encourages Active Learning

 Instead of passively receiving information, learners take responsibility for their

own and their group’s learning.
 They are more engaged and motivated because they are actively involved in
problem-solving.

4. Fosters Peer-to-Peer Learning

 Learners often understand explanations better when they come from classmates
(peer language).
 Struggling students benefit from peer support, while stronger students reinforce their
knowledge by teaching others.

5. Builds Higher-Order Thinking Skills

 Collaborative tasks often require analyzing, evaluating, and creating, not just
memorizing.
 Learners develop problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

6. Promotes Learner Autonomy and Confidence

 Learners share responsibility, make choices, and contribute ideas, which builds
confidence.
 They realize that learning is not just teacher-dependent but can be self-directed
and co-created.

7. Mirrors Real-World Work Environments

 Collaboration prepares learners for the workplace where teamwork and

communication are essential.
 They experience division of tasks, accountability, and collective achievement,
just like in real projects.
