Updated on 30th-Mar-2024:
+ Added SW20 Initial Configuration
+ Updated the solutions for Task 2 & Task 3
Tasks
The operations team started configuring network devices for a new site. Complete the configurations to achieve these goals:
1. Configure Rapid PVST+ on SW20.
2. The trunk between SW20 and SW30 is not operational. Troubleshoot the issue and ensure PC3 can ping PC1 ([Link]) across the link.
3. The LACP port channel between SW10 and SW20 is not operational. Troubleshoot the issue and ensure PC3 can ping PC2 ([Link]) across
the port channel.
Note: No access is provided to SW10 or SW30. Resolve these issues by making changes only to SW20. Traffic on all trunks should be restricted to
only active VLANs.

Solution
In this lab we can only access SW20.
You can practice this sim with our own simulator or EVE-NG file at:
+ Rapid PVST+ and LACP Online Simulator
+ EVE-NG files (IOS used: [Link]. Please unzip once and import the sub-zip files)
Task 1. Configure Rapid PVST+ on SW20.
On SW20:
SW20#conf t
SW20(config)#spanning-tree mode rapid-pvst
Task 2. The trunk between SW20 and SW30 is not operational. Troubleshoot the issue and ensure PC3 can ping PC1 ([Link]) across the link.
Use the “show run” command on SW20 and we see that interface E0/0 was configured as access mode. We should change it to trunk mode and allow
only VLAN 500 (according to the request “Traffic on all trunks should be restricted to only active VLANs”)
SW20(config)#interface e0/0
SW20(config-if)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
SW20(config-if)#switchport mode trunk
SW20(config-if)#switchport trunk allowed vlan 500
[Link] 3/12
08/10/2025, 12:30 ENCOR Training » Rapid PVST+ and LACP Sim
Verification
Open PC3 and try pinging to PC1 (you have to wait for about 1 minute before the ping can work):
PC3#ping [Link]
!!!!!
Task 3. The LACP port channel between SW10 and SW20 is not operational. Troubleshoot the issue and ensure PC3 can ping PC2 ([Link])
across the port channel.
Use the “show run” command on SW20 and we see that the Port-channel 10 is not matched with its physical member interfaces E0/2 & E0/3.
Therefore we have to change the configuration of this Port-channel:
Note: The port-channel number may be different so please check carefully.
SW20(config)#int Po10
SW20(config-if)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
SW20(config-if)#switchport mode trunk
SW20(config-if)#switchport trunk allowed vlan 500
Note: After we issue the command “switchport trunk allowed vlan 500” on interface port-channel 10 above, this command will be applied
automatically on physical member interfaces E0/2 & E0/3 too.
Verification
Use the “show etherchannel summary” command on SW20 to check if the issue has been resolved and Port-channel has been in SU (Layer 2/Up)
state:
SW20#show etherchannel summary
--output omitted--
Number of channel-groups in use: 1
Number of aggregators: 1
Group Port-channel Protocol Ports
------+-------------+-----------+-----------------------------------------------
10 Po10(SU) LACP Et0/2(P) Et0/3(P)
Note: If we still see any error then please check the configs between interface Port-channel 10 and E0/2, E0/3. The configs between them must be the
same (except the “channel-group 10 mode active” command) so that interface Port-channel 10 can come up:
interface Port-channel10 interface Ethernet0/2
switchport trunk allowed vlan 500 switchport trunk allowed vlan 500
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

Verification

Save the configuration
SW20#copy running-config startup-config

If we enter additional commands (optional), will it impact the results of the SIM in the exam. For example, allowed VLAN 1-2 other than given
VLANs. Ultimate output is ok but with unnecessary configs.

Hi, I’m using CML since the basic mode is free, is it possible to get the configuration files for these labs on CML or a documentation that I can
just copy and paste the config from.

Did anyone here get question LACP is being attempted but failing and need to fix? I could only work from SW10 and i dicovered PAGP was
etherchannel on SW30. I Configured SW10 for dynamic deesirable etc but after doing all this there was a native vlan mismatch on SW30 for
each of the Ethernet interfaces on that side of the channel group. It said native vlan mismatch E0/1 (11) E0/2 (12) for which I could not login to
SW30 to check the config WTF!!!

After applying all confings I cannot ping and also still get this error message, even after I modified initial configs on SW10.

Hello digitaltut team ,
would like to make ensure once again that are all labs are enough to pass the exam ? hope there would be no more labs excpet these as per in lab
list. Kindly reply

Sooo there is something about this questions answer from Digital Tut that bothers me alot.
The task outline states that trunk should only allow ACTIVE vlans.
If you use the show run, vlan 1 and vlan 500 are the active vlans.
Why then does Digital Tut insist that only vlan 500 be allowed?
To my knowledge, vlan 1 is also the native vlan. Removing it from the allowed vlans on the trunk links would also cause native vlan mismatch
if I am not mistaken.
Digital Tut or someone with knowledge, please confirm my findings.

@Shekka: VLAN 1 is always allowed, whether it is in the allowed list or not.
