Instructions
The role of the interview in the assessment of the PCL-R is described in the Technical Manual and in the
Grading booklet; interviewers can develop and use their own interview
semi-structured to obtain the necessary information for the PCL-R assessment.
When using this Guide, use the numbered questions; you may vary the words of the
ask with the aim of establishing and maintaining rapport with the individual, or adapt it to their context
particular. The questions in square brackets [ ] are tests or trials conducted to
encourage the individual to provide more information. Try to avoid the yes–no pattern in the
questions and answers. In general, questions that are answered with a yes or no must
are followed by tests that explain the answer. The items in this Guide are not exhaustive,
feel free to get any additional information that you think may be useful in the
individual assessment.
