International Conference - Preamble
India is one of the major player in the agriculture sector worldwide and it is the primary source
of livelihood for about 58% of India’s population. India is the second-largest producer of fruit,
vegetables, tea, farmed fish, cotton, sugarcane, wheat, rice, cotton, and sugar. Agriculture sector
in India holds the record for second-largest agricultural land in the world generating
employment for about half of the country’s population. Thus, farmers become an integral part of
the sector to provide us with means of sustenance. The Indian food industry is poised for huge
growth, increasing its contribution to world food trade every year due to its immense potential
for value addition, particularly within the food processing industry. The Indian food processing
industry accounts for 32% of the country’s total food market, one of the largest industries in
India and is ranked fifth in terms of production, consumption, export and expected growth. In
total agriculture contributes 19.9 per cent to the national GDP and 10 per cent to the total
exports from India.

With farmers being on the top of the priority list of the government, innovative agriculture is
fast acquiring greater space in public talk. The way robots and drones are replacing traditional
farm operations such as picking fruits, killing weeds, spraying pesticides and fertilizer on crops,
with imagery from drones and satellites coupled with GPS technology providing a high-
resolution and location-specific view of the field, the definition of agriculture is getting new
meaning and dimensions. The innovative technical interventions pushed in by the government in
recent years, India has become one of the most prominent countries in the field of agriculture
globally.

Start-ups play a key role in promoting innovation in a society. Start-ups are revolutionizing
Indian agriculture from weather forecasting to drone use, from inputs retailing and equipment
renting to selling fruits and vegetables online and from farm automation to protected cultivation,
assaying and grading. Agri start-ups are booming in the areas of Big Data Analytics, Supply
Chain/Market-linked Model, FaaS, IoT Enabled, Engineering-Led Innovation etc. It can provide
constant innovative solutions to the plethora of challenges faced by farmers like vagaries of
weather, looming threat of climate change, small and fragmented land holdings and lingering
technology adoption etc.

AGRI TECHNOVA 2023 conference aims to bring together all stakeholders; budding
agriprenuers, industrialists, farmers, business incubators, research institutions and Farmer
Producer Organisations on a single platform to present and share their innovations, technology
experience, expertise, business models and success stories of Agri Start-ups. AGRI TECHNOVA
2023 is expected to offer a unique opportunity for bringing knowledge about potential
technologies, recent innovations, agripreneurial ecosystems for Agri start-ups, technology
commercialization, export guidelines and social entrepreneurship.

Research Extension Centre, Samayanallur of Central Sericultural Research & Training

Institute, Mysuru under the Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India established
in the year 1982 & functioning in its own campus with demonstration mulberry garden,
silkworm rearing and training facilities. This centre is catering the technical & extension needs
& services to sericulture farmers covering 17 districts in central & southern Tamil Nadu for the
past 40 years. Imparting training, demonstration of technologies, forewarning of pest & disease
control measures in mulberry silkworm crop, bridging of lab to land yield gaps results for the
cost effective quality linked productivity improvements for maximum profit earnings to
sericulture farmers thro' periodical field extension works are the major mandate of the centre
in association with Department of Sericulture in the state. Coordination of all technical
activities for the overall development sericulture in the operational areas to the DoS., and
function as liaison unit with the state (DoS.,) & central governments (CSB).

SINCE 1881

American College is one of the institutions in higher education known for its focus on academic
excellence and social relevance. Its pioneering role in the development of college autonomy in
India, its successful beginning of Choice Based Credit System and its completion of 141 years of
higher education bear testimony to the position that the college currently enjoys. Originally
founded by American Missionaries in 1841, the American College grew in to a collegiate
department in 1881. Earlier, it was affiliated to the University of Madras and later, it came
under the jurisdiction of Madurai Kamaraj University. With its extreme sensitivity to national
policies and community needs, the college has grown from strength to strength. It was one of the
first set of seven colleges to be made autonomous by the UGC in 1977-1978.
Today the college offers thirty-one undergraduate and seventeen post-graduate programmes.
There are seven research centres offering [Link]., and Ph.D programmes in various disciplines.
The college was re-accredited (3rd cycle) by NAAC with Grade “A+” CGPA-3.47 on a 4 point
scale in 2022. The college offers undergraduate self-financed programmes from the academic
year 2015-16 in its Satellite Campus at Chattrapatti to cater to the city, rural and less privileged
students of the community. The college has tie-ups with many state, central and private
industries and institutes. An MOU between the American College and Concordia College, New
York enables the second-year UG students of select departments to complete their degrees at
Concordia College under American Transfer Programme (ATP).
Post Graduate & Research Department of Botany, The American College, Madurai
The department traces its origin back to 1931 from the days it used to support the ancillary
requirement of Biology/ Zoology department. It elevated itself to offer major courses in botany
from the year 1968. The post graduate department had its inception in 1987 and became a full-
fledged research department in 1993. The present curriculum in the PG and UG programmes
provides the state of art knowledge in Botany with the complete sense of excitement and
exploration. Currently, the department is running active research in all the curricula thrust
areas of life sciences.
Post Graduate & Research Department of Zoology, The American College, Madurai
Department of Zoology was functioning as a collegiate department since the inception of The
American College as a second-grade college in 1881. Zoology was offered as a Part II subject to
B.A. degree in 1913. Post graduate department of Zoology was added under Madras University
in July 1959. [Link]. special Zoology was offered from 1969 under Madurai Kamaraj University.
Post graduate department was recognized as Research Centre in 1982. [Link]. program was
started from July 1987.

Call for abstracts
AGRI TECHNOVA 2023 International Conference Registration is mandatory for publication of abstract
in Souvenir.
Abstract Submission: Abstracts not exceeding 300 words on any of the aforesaid themes and subthemes
The official language of the AGRI TECHNOVA 2023 International Conference will be English Only.
AGRI TECHNOVA 2023 International Conference have oral and poster presentations.
Abstracts of both invited and offered papers will be printed and distributed to participants as AGRI
TECHNOVA 2023 International Conference Souvenir.
The authors shall send abstracts by email to agritechnova2023@[Link] mentioning details of the title
of themes and subthemes, self email ID, contact number and full postal address, key words of the
abstract.
Last date of abstract submission is 20th January, 2023.
Intimation of acceptance of abstract submission will be confirmed by mail.
Abstract submission strictly is advised to submit new, original and free from plagiarised content, double
space, Arial narrow font, 12 in size on any theme and subthemes of the AGRI TECHNOVA 2023
International Conference.
AGRI TECHNOVA 2023 International Conference Organising Committee reserve the rights to delegate
mode of presentation as either Oral presentation / Poster presentation depending on the number of
abstracts received and merit of the abstracts based on originality / novelty of research work on the
themes of conference.
Not more than two abstracts from each participant will be entertained.

Oral Presentation
Oral presenters must prepare the presentation based on the template provided by the committee. It is
available in the website or on request can be received through mail. The lead speaker will be given 15
minutes time (including discussion) for oral presentation. The speakers of contributory papers will be
given 8 minutes including discussion.

Poster Presentation
Poster Presentation allotted participants are requested to prepare their posters that should not exceed the
dimension 1.3 x 1.0 m (length x width) and furnished with the title, Authors' Name, Affiliation,
Introduction, Materials & Methods, Results & Discussion and Conclusion. Clear pictures, diagrams,
graphs and short tables are highly encouraged to be used in poster presentation.

Awards for Oral and Poster Presentation

Best Oral and Poster Presentation will be evaluated for awards in each thematic area. Certificate and
Memento will be issued for Best Oral and Poster Presentation.

Climate of Madurai
Winters are the best time to visit Madurai. This season in the city spans from November to early February and the
temperature ranges anywhere between 22°C to 27°C making it suitable for visit by travellers. Humidity in the air

Air
Madurai Airport (IXM) offers domestic flights to major cities in India. The airport was declared a customs airport
in 2012 allowing limited number of international flights and international services to Colombo, Dubai and
Singapore. The carriers operating from the airport are Air India, Air India Express, Jet Airways, SpiceJet, Indigo
and Sri Lankan Airlines. Other nearest airports happen to be Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore, Chennai, Cochin and
Trivandrum.

Train
Madurai Junction (MDU) is the major railway station. There are direct trains connecting Madurai with other
major cities and towns across India including New Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.

Madurai is well connected with the National Highways NH 7, NH 45B, NH 208 and NH 49 passing through
Madurai.

Registration fee does not include accommodation charges and it should be paid by the participants directly to hotel.
Number of hotels available around the conference venue and participant will book directly. The accommodation
