Important Questions – Diploma 1st Semester (Chapter-wise)

Chapter 1: Algebra
1. Solve the simultaneous equations: 2x + 3y = 8 and x – 4y = –2.

2. If A = [2 3; 1 4], find A² – 2A + I.

3. Find the inverse of a 2×2 matrix using the adjoint method.

4. If a and b are roots of the quadratic equation x² – 5x + 6 = 0, find (a/b) + (b/a).

5. Evaluate determinant |2 3 1; 0 1 4; 3 2 5|.

6. Solve: x² + 5x + 6 = 0 by factorization method.


Chapter 2: Trigonometry
1. Prove: sin²A + cos²A = 1.

2. Simplify: (1 + tan²A) / (1 + cot²A).

3. Find the value of sin(45° + A) in terms of sinA and cosA.

4. If tanA = 3/4, find sinA and cosA.

5. Solve: sinx = ½ for 0° ≤ x ≤ 360°.

6. Prove: (1 + sinA)(1 – sinA) = cos²A.


Chapter 3: Coordinate Geometry
1. Find the distance between points (3, –2) and (7, 4).

2. Find the coordinates of the midpoint of the line joining (–1, 2) and (5, –6).

3. Find the equation of the line passing through (2, 3) and having slope 4.

4. Determine if the points (1, 2), (3, 6), and (5, 10) are collinear.

5. Find the slope and intercept of the line 2x – 3y + 6 = 0.

6. Find the coordinates of the centroid of triangle with vertices (2, 3), (4, –1), (–2, 5).
Chapter 4: Differentiation
1. Find dy/dx if y = x² + 3x + 5.

2. Differentiate y = sinx + cosx with respect to x.

3. Find the derivative of y = e■(1 + x).

4. If y = log(x² + 1), find dy/dx.

5. Find the slope of the tangent to y = x³ – 2x² + x at x = 2.

Chapter 5: Integration
