1. What adversities in your past will you have to overcome in order to succeed in college? I will
have to overcome doing things at last minute it can ruin my grades and when I do them at last
minute, I can make many mistakes and I won’t be able to fix any of them. I will have to study
more to get better grades on my tests.

2. What changes will you have to make in your personal and academic life to reach your goals? I
will have to start doing things before the due date and I have will need to start studying more
for me to do better on my tests.

3. What is the relationship between Education and the New Global economy? Whatever happens
in the global economy can affect your education. If you are trying to get a medical degree and
the global economy changes and you don’t understand what’s happening can affect if you can
get your degree or not.

4. What are some of the skills listed that Employers are saying are vital among their prospective
employees? Long-term potential, ability to work with others, communication skills, attention to
detail, creative problem-solving skills, strong online social media/technical skills, enthusiasm
and initiative, ability to learn new skills quickly, self-confidence, and flexibility/adaptability.

5. What are the essential cornerstones for success in the changing world? Seek Excellence as a
Communicator, Practice Loyalty and trustworthiness, Become a desirable employee, Use
critical-thinking skills, Manage your priorities well, Stay current and build transferable skills,
Continue to get experience and education, Avoid internet and social media blunders, Watch
your credit rating, Remain open minded, and Polish your human relation skills.

6. What are the four steps the book recommends in order to build a successful future? 1) The
willingness to set clear, realistic goals and the ability to visualize the results of those goals. 2)
The ability to recognize your strengths and build on them. 3) The ability to recognize your

10. What is the Basic Truths About Community College Success? Basic truth 1- success is about
choices, sacrifices, and making intelligent transitions. Basic truth 2- Your Education is a two-
way street. Basic truth 3- You’re in charge here- it’s all about self-motivation and self-
responsibility. Basic truth 4- Self-management will be your key to success. Basic truth 5-
Community college is Not High school. Basic truth 6- Eliminating the “This isn’t Harvard

11. What are the characteristic for victim and victor in the Victim and Victor Profile? The victim
blames others of his/her problems. The victim constantly complains and had a negative
mentality about things. The victor accepts responsibility for what happens in his/her life. The
victor works hard to raise his/her level of achievement and constantly seeks to improve.

12. What is the basic guideline on how much time you should study outside of class? You should
study between 2-5 hours a days and you can do more than five hours.

13. Outline the Guide to Understanding Expectations for the three categories: High School,
College, and Work. High school expectation for punctuality and Attendance- The hours in the
day are managed for you. High school expectation for teamwork and participation- Most
teamwork is assigned and carried out in class. High school expectation in personal
responsibility and attitude- teachers may coach you and try to motivate you. High school
expectation in ethics and credibility – You are excepted to write your own papers, without
plagiarizing. College expectation in punctuality and attendance- Attendance and participation in
class are strictly enforced by many professor’s. College expectation in teamwork and
participation- Many professor’s require teamwork and cooperative learning teams or learning
communities. College expectation in personal responsibility and attitude-You are responsible
for your own learning. College expectation in ethics and credibility- You are expected to turn in
your own work. Work expectation in punctuality and attendance- You are expected to be at
work and on time on a daily basis. Work expectation in teamwork and participation-You will be
expected to participate fully in any assigned task. Work expectation in personal responsibility
and attitude-You are hired to do certain tasks and the company or institution fully expects this
of you. Work expectation in ethics and credibility-You will be required to carry out your job in
accordance with company policies, laws, and moral standards.

15. What are the characteristics of SMART goals? Smart goals are specific, measurable,
attainable, relevant, and time-bound.

16. Define Comfort Zone Bulldozer approach? The bulldozer approach is when you take more
classes and engage in more activities than you can possibly complete successfully.
