Quadrilaterals Cheat Sheet v2

The document outlines the properties of various quadrilaterals including parallelograms, rhombuses, rectangles, squares, trapeziums, and kites. Each shape is described in terms of its sides, angles, and diagonals. A summary table provides a quick reference for the characteristics of each type of quadrilateral.

Parallelogram

A B

D C

Sides: Opposite sides are parallel and equal.

Angles: Opposite angles are equal. Consecutive angles are supplementary.

Diagonals: Diagonals bisect each other.

Quick test: If both pairs of opposite sides are parallel, ABCD is a parallelogram.
Rhombus

D B

Sides: All sides are equal. Opposite sides are parallel.

Angles: Opposite angles are equal. Diagonals bisect vertex angles.

Diagonals: Diagonals bisect each other at right angles.

Rectangle

A B

D C

Sides: Opposite sides are parallel and equal.

Angles: All angles are 90°.

Diagonals: Diagonals bisect each other and are equal in length.

Square

A B

D C

Sides: All sides are equal; opposite sides are parallel.

Angles: All angles are 90°.

Diagonals: Diagonals are equal, bisect each other, and are perpendicular.
Trapezium

A B

D C

Sides: One pair of opposite sides is parallel (AB ■ CD).

Angles: Consecutive interior angles on parallel sides are supplementary.

Diagonals: Diagonals intersect but do not generally bisect each other.

Kite

D B

Sides: Two pairs of adjacent equal sides (AB = AD, BC = CD).

Angles: One pair of opposite angles are equal (at A and C if symmetric).

Diagonals: Diagonals are perpendicular; one diagonal bisects the other.

bisect each other

Rhombus All sides equal; Opposite angles equal; Diagonals bisect at right angles

Rectangle Opposite sides equal & parallel; All angles 90°; Diagonals equal &
