a) Define the term Mobile computing, and list three of its main concepts (5 Marks)

b) Describe two practical applications of GPRS in modern mobile computing. (4 Marks)

c) Explain the concept of multiplexing and outline four different multiplexing techniques (6 Marks)

d) Satellite communication systems are powerful networks that use orbiting satellites to transmit
data, voice, video, and internet signals over large distances, covering areas unreachable by
terrestrial networks. They form the backbone of global telecommunications, providing
connectivity for remote locations, mobile platforms and even personal satellite-based
communications. Outline five key Components of Satellite Communication Systems essential
for data transmission between Earth stations via satellites;

follows a hierarchical structure, with various components working together to facilitate
communication. Identify and describe four key components of the GSM network

b) Recent advancements in mobile computing are significantly transforming interactions
with technology for both individuals and businesses. These trends are driving the
evolution of mobile devices, making them smarter, faster, and increasingly integrated
into daily life. Identify and explain three current trends in mobile computing, providing
specific examples to illustrate each trend. (6 Marks).

c) Imagine you’re launching your own business. Describe two ways you would utilize
mobile computing to gain a competitive advantage. Additionally, identify a potential
challenge you may encounter while implementing mobile technologies, and how the said
challenge can be overcome (4 Marks)
