The topic I want to do for the screencast tutorial is how to use openrefine to clean and
reconcile Metadata for digital collections. Openrefine is a very powerful open source tool that
is used by information professionals to clean, transform, and standardize messy data which is a
common challenge in LAMS. This tutorial will hopefully guide users through the process of
importing a data set, identifying inconsistencies, clustering similar values, and reconciling data
with external authorities. This topic is moderately difficult as it requires a knowledge of metadata
and digital curation tools. But it does not require programming experience. The intended
audience would include MLIS students, digital librarians and archivists, and anyone managing
metadata in the context of LAMS. People who work with digital collections would really benefit
from this tutorial.
