Comprehensive Practical Assignment: Exploring the Insert Tab in Microsoft

Objective:
This assignment is designed to give you practical experience with every feature available under
the Insert tab in Microsoft Word. You will use this tab to insert various objects such as tables,
pictures, shapes, charts, headers, footers, and more. By completing this assignment, you will be
able to enhance your document creation skills.
Instructions:
1. Create a New Document
o Open Microsoft Word and create a new document titled "Comprehensive Insert
Tab Practice".
2. Insert a Cover Page
Navigate to the Insert tab and select Cover Page.
Choose a design from the dropdown options.
Replace the placeholder text with the following:
o Title: Insert Tab Features
o Subtitle: Practical Assignment for Microsoft Word
o Your Name: [Your Full Name]
o Date: [Current Date]
3. Insert a Blank Page
After the cover page, insert a blank page using the Blank Page option in the Insert tab.
4. Inserting a Table
Table Details
On the blank page, insert a table with 5 rows and 4 columns.
Populate the table with the following data:

Customization
Apply a table style by clicking on the Table Design tab.

5. Insert a Picture
Picture Details
Insert a picture of your choice from your computer below the table.
Use the Insert tab → Pictures → This Device.
Resize the picture to fit appropriately in the document (e.g., make it half the page width).
6. Insert Shapes
Shapes Details
Under the table, insert three different shapes using the Shapes option:
1. A Rectangle with the text "Rectangle Shape".
2. A Circle (Oval) with the text "Circle Shape".
3. An Arrow pointing to the right with the text "Arrow Shape".
Customization
Fill the shapes with different colors using the Shape Fill option.
Add a shadow effect to the rectangle using the Shape Effects option.
7. Insert SmartArt
SmartArt Details
Insert a SmartArt diagram by going to the Insert tab → SmartArt → Process → Select
Basic Process.
Fill the SmartArt with the following text:
o Step 1: Plan
o Step 2: Design
o Step 3: Develop
o Step 4: Test
o Step 5: Launch
8. Insert a Chart
Chart Details
Insert a Bar Chart by selecting Insert tab → Chart → Bar Chart.
Replace the default chart data with the following:

Customization
Change the chart color to a style of your choice.
Add data labels to show the values on the chart.
9. Insert a Screenshot
Screenshot Details
Use the Insert tab → Screenshot → Screen Clipping option.
Take a screenshot of any active window on your computer and insert it into the
document.
Place the screenshot on a new page after the chart.
10. Insert Header and Footer
Header
Go to Insert tab → Header and choose a header design.
Type "Comprehensive Insert Tab Assignment" in the header.
Footer
Insert a footer by selecting Insert tab → Footer.
Type Your Full Name on the left side of the footer.
Insert page numbers on the right side of the footer.
12. Insert a Text Box
Text Box Details
Insert a Text Box using the Insert tab → Text Box → Simple Text Box.
Type the following inside the text box:
o "This is an example of a text box."
Change the font size to 14 and font color to dark blue.
13. Insert WordArt
WordArt Details
Insert WordArt using the Insert tab → WordArt.
Choose a style and type "Creative Text".
Move the WordArt to the bottom of the page.
Save and Submit:
Save your document as "Insert Tab Comprehensive Assignment_[YourName]".
Submit the document for review or evaluation as per your instructor’s instructions.
