3.0 DETAILS OF PROJECTS, TASK, ON DUTIES HANDLED
During my SIWES training, I was assigned to hone my drawing and painting skills

EQUIPMENT USED
I utilized various tools, including brushes and a palette knife. The palette knife was
particularly useful for creating textured effects in my paintings. I learned to handle the
knife carefully, as the final result depended on the pressure and placement of the knife
on the canvas.
3.2 PROCEDURES AND METHODS LEARNED
Throughout my training, I observed and learned various procedures and methods that
enhanced my artistic skills. These included:
1. Pencil Handling: I learned to hold my pencil correctly, using my thumb and index
finger to control the pencil's movement. This grip allowed me to sketch freely without
restriction.
2. Canvas Preparation: Before starting a painting, I primed my canvas to ensure a
smooth and durable surface. The process involved:
Applying a layer of top bond (glue mixed with water) to block the holes and prevent
the paint from seeping through.
1. Allowing the top bond to dry completely.
2. Applying multiple layers of gesso (emulsion mixed with top bond) to
create a smooth surface. Each layer was allowed to dry before applying the next.
3. Painting Techniques: I learned various painting techniques, including:
1. Brush Strokes: I used flat brushes to create textured strokes, avoiding
excessive blending to maintain the painting's depth and dimension.
Through these exercises and projects, I gained valuable experience and improved my
artistic skills. The daily practice and experimentation with different techniques and tools
helped me develop my unique style and approach to art. I'm grateful for the opportunity
to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and look forward to continuing my
artistic journey.
