ACTIVITY PROPOSAL

NATIONAL READING MONTH CELEBRATION CULMINATING DAY

III. Context and Rationale:

Realtive to DepEd Memorandun no. 244 s. 2011, also known as


“Declaring November Reading Month of Every Year which delared
November of every year as the National Reading Month, and DepEd Order
no 9, s. 2024 also known as “Implementing Guidelines which on the School
Calendar and Activities for SY 2024-2025” which indicated that National
Reading Day shal be celebrated on November 27, 2024, Sto. Domingo
Integrated High School is going to celebrate National Reading Month with
the School Theme, “Healing Through Reading”. This theme is based on the
agenda of the department which aims to promote learning recovery
specifically reading and nuneracy. In line with these several activities to
celebrate National Reading Month will be conducted throughout the
scheduled date of culmination.

In previous years, Sto. Domingo Integrated High School was


comitted in celebrating culminating activity in line of Reading Month. Due
to the fact that November 27, 2024 is part of the week where schools shall
conduct distance learning for three days and academic break for two day,
Sto. Domingo will hold its culminating day on December 13, 2024, also to
give way to Second Quarterly Examination Day.

It is the committment of the school to celebrate out-the-classroom


activities that students will enjoy and learn something from at the same
time. These activities will center on appreciating reading and literature
through various reading strategies, contests, and reading corners.
Through this reading camp culmination, teachers will be able to promote
to the students the importance and beauty of reading and the students
shall be able to value the importance of reading.

IV. Objectives

The main goal of the Reading Month Celebration Culmination Day


(Reading Camp) is to promote the importance of reading and to conduct
various activities related to reading. Specifically, the following objectives
are expected to be met at the end of the activity:
1. To promote and strengthen the importance of reading to
students through various reading activities and contests;
2. Encourage students to participate in various activities relative to
the celebration of the National Reading Month.
3. Appreciate literature through presentation of theater featuring
different classic short stories.

V. Activity Description:

In celebration of the National Reading Month, the school will hold a


Reading Camp with the theme, “Healing in Reading” which aims to
promote reading as part of the initiative to of the department focusing on
learning recovery particularly in reading and numeracy. The camp will
have various activities and contests that aims to promote and strengthen
the importance of reading.

Below are the following activities and contest, and the respective
grade levels involved.
ACTIVITIES PEOPLE INVOLVED
Chamber Theater Contest Grade 10 Students
and Presentation All sections will compete against each
other presenting different shorts
Featuring the following stories: stories by doing a chamber theater.
Title: My Father Goes to Court
This will also be the highlight of the

Dishes grades 7-9 can watch the theaters by
purchasing a ticket good for 4

Choral Reading Grade 7 Students


Prior to the culminating day, All
sections will hold a contest and the
top 3 sections will present their choral
reading on stage.
Dramatic Monologue Grade 8 Students
The grade 8 students will choose 1
representative from each section and
there will be an elimination round. The
top 3 will perform their piece on stage
during the reading camp.
Cosplay Contest Grade 9 students
All sections will prepare their Cosplay
featuring the main characters of
selected literary pieces.
Rent-A-Book Corner Filipino Teachers
They will set up a booth where
students can rent reading materials
which they can read for the entire
day.
Word Factory Competition Grade 7 and 8 Students
Sulat-Bigkas Talumpati Grade 10 Students
Contest
Photobooth All Teachers And Students

A membership fee of P10.00

IX. Proposed Budget and Source:

The budget for the preparation and conduct of the Reading Camp
will be coming from the Membership fee which will be collected from
students in a voluntary basis. The proceeds of the activity will be used for
students and teachers who will compete in contests outside of the school.
The remaining (if there would be any) would be used in buying Bond Paper
and other school supplies to be used for activity sheets and supplimentary
materials, and for other purposes that students will benefit from.

X. Monitoring and Evaluation:

The monitoring and evaluation of this project will be done through the help
of the School Monitong and Evaluation.
Monitoring will be done through minutes of the meeting, narrative reports
and documentation by the proponent.

Evaluation will be done through feedback system by the beneficiaries of


the project using google forms. .
