Task Objective

The task objective is to calculate the baseline indoor water use for the Roses Project and identify fixtures that reduce potable water needs. The project involves calculating design indoor water use, identifying non-potable water sources, and developing a graphic showing the annual water balance budget with savings and LEED points. A workplan must be created to assign responsibilities for calculations, research, and impact assessments related to water efficiency and building systems.

TASK OBJECTIVE

 Calculate Baseline Indoor Water Use for the Roses Project.

Identify fixtures that allow for a reduction in potable water needs. Document with datasheets
indication flow and flush rates
Calculate Design Indoor Water Use for the Roses Project using the proposed fixtures
Identify 2 different sources of non-potable water and calculate how much water is available annually.
Calculate the savings vs Baseline including efficient fixtures and use of at least 1 non-potable water
source.
Develop a graphic showing the annual water balance budget and indicate the % savings vs baseline
and associated LEED points.
Describe in a short paragraph how the use of the non-potable water source will impact building
systems
Occupancy to be used for calculations:
FTEs = 37. Days of Operations 290.
Students are Visitors = 40. Days of Operations 365
Flow fixtures are lavatory faucets and showers. (no kitchen)
Flush fixture are toilets and urinals
DIRECTIONS

Review Indoor Water Use and Integrative Process Credits individually

With your team, decide on a workplan including who will do what by when.
Decide who will make the baseline calculation
Share baseline calculation.
With your team, decide who will do the research to identify water efficient fixtures
Decide who will develop the design case calculations
Identify the sources of non-potable water use and estimate annual amount available
Decide which of the non-potable sources would be preferable for the project.
Calculate % savings and LEED points that can be obtained.
Identify impact on building systems.
