Course Objectives:
1. To develop the knowledge of Process Automation through Internet of Things (IoT) and
WebTechnology.
2. To understand the concept of M2M (machine to machine) with necessary protocols.
3. To demonstrate IoT Physical devices, sensors and endpoints.
4. To develop interfacing of various sensors with Arduino/Raspberry Pi.
Course Outcomes:
After studying this course, students will be able to:
CO-1: To develop the knowledge of basic concepts of Internet of Things
CO-2: Understand the concept of IoT in comparison with Mobile-to-Mobile
framework.CO-3: Demonstrate devices like sensors, actuators and microcontrollers.
CO-4: To apply the ability to transmit data wirelessly between different devices.

MODULE 1 (09 Hours)
Introduction to Mechatronics systems: Definition, Multidisciplinary Scenario, Evolution of
Mechatronics, Design of Mechatronics system, Objectives, advantages and disadvantages of
Mechatronics. Introduction to Arduino.

Basic principles and strategies of automation, Overview of manufacturing operations, Basic
elements of an automated system, Overview of industrial control systems, Hardware components;

Introduction to IIOT - Definition and Key Concepts of IIoT, Difference between IoT and IIoT,
Evolution and Importance of IIoT in Industry 4.0. IIoT Architecture.

IoT & Web Technology: The Internet of Things Today, Time for Convergence, Towards the IoT

Applications, Future Internet Technologies, Infrastructure, Networks and Communication,
Processes, Data Management, Security, Privacy & Trust, Device Level Energy Issues,

Controlling Hardware:
Connecting LED, Buzzer, Switching High Power devices with transistors, Controlling AC Power
devices with Relays, Controlling servo motor, speed control of DC Motor, unipolar and bipolar
Stepper motors Sensors- Light sensor, temperature sensor with thermistor, voltage sensor, ADC
and DAC, Temperature and Humidity Sensor DHT11, Motion Detection Sensors, Wireless
Bluetooth Sensors, Level Sensors, USB Sensors, Embedded Sensors.

MODULE 5 (09 Hours)
Programming an Arduino IoT Device, Preparing the development environment (Arduino IDE),
Exploring the Arduino language (C/C++) syntax, Coding, compiling, and uploading to the
microcontroller, Working with Arduino Communication Modules: Bluetooth Modules, WiFi
Modules and I2C and SPI, Interfacing Arduino and Blynk via USB : LED Blinking, Controlling a
Servomotor.

PART – B
LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS (Total 15 Hours of Practical, 02 hours lab session per
weekper batch)
EXP NO 1: To control the buzzer with output signals from a microcontroller.
EXP NO 2: To read the analog and digital data values from an Infrared sensor.
EXP NO 3: To detect the presence of an obstacle and give indication through buzzer.
EXP NO 4: To detect the level of moisture in soil with moisture sensor.
EXP NO 5: Interfacing RFID sensor with Arduino through IoT development kit and read the data
from RFID tag
EXP NO 6: To interface Bluetooth module to control relay through output from microcontroller.
EXP NO 7: To control the speed and direction of DC motors.
EXP NO 8: To control the angular rotations of servo motor.
EXP NO 9: To detect the level of moisture in soil and display the data over the IoT cloud using
ThingSpeak
