ENTRY BEHAVIOUR: Learners have learnt the meaning of drug use and abuse.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Fruits: Orange, lime, pure honey, paracetamol, alcohol, etc.
BEHAVIOURAL OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:
i. State two effects of drug use
ii. State two effects of drug abuse.

CONTENT:
Effects of Drug Use
1. It makes us healthy.
2. It aids proper working of the body system.
3. It sustains our strength.
4. It relieves the sick person (people) of their ailment.
Effects of Drug Abuse
1. Health effects are high blood pressure, stroke, sleeplessness and death
2. Socio-economic effects are poor performance in school, truancy and violence.
3. Psychological effects are madness, rape, bullying and loss of memory
PRESENTATION:
STEP I: Revise the previous topic with the learners.
STEP II: Introduce the lesson to the learners by showing them some drugs.
STEP III: Guide the learners to identify different kinds of drugs such as paracetamol,
vitamins, lime, different fruits.
STEP IV: Explain the effects of drug use to the learners.
STEP V: Explain the effects of drug abuse to the learners.
EVALUATION: Mention two effect of drug use and abuse
CONCLUSION: Correct their mistake and ask them to re-write where necessary.
ASSIGNMENT: Always avoid alcohol because it refers to drug or drink that can intoxicate
or make us drunk.

SUBJECT: Child Protection Issues


TOPIC: Children with Special needs and Vulnerable Children
SUB-TOPIC: Tolerance, Friendliness and Helping groups with Special Needs.
DURATION: 30 minutes

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR: Learners had been told to be friendly with children with special needs.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: A chart showing tolerance, friendliness, care and support
system.
BEHAVIOURAL OBJECTIVE: At the end of the lesson, learners should be able to list the
attitude we should have towards children with special needs.
CONTENT:

1. Tolerance: This is the attitude of willing to accept other people’s way of life without
criticizing them even if you disagree with them.
2. Friendliness: We need to be friendly with children with special needs by cheering them up
and giving them attention.
3. Care: We need to care for children with special needs. The treatment of those in need
must be paramount to us.
PRESENTATION:
STEP I: Revise the previous topic with the learners.
STEP II: Introduce the lesson to the learners by showing them a chart showing children
with special needs.
STEP III: Explain by telling the learners how to show love to groups or children with special
needs and learn how to tolerate them and also be friendly with them.
STEP IV: Demonstrate how to care and support groups or children with special needs with
the help of instructional materials.
EVALUATION: Ask the learners to mention the attitude we should have towards the
children with special needs.
CONCLUSION: Assist the learners and correct them where necessary.
ASSIGNMENT: Always share your time with children with special needs and give them attention.

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR: Learners had been taught the national emergency number for road
safety.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: A chart showing zebra crossing.
BEHAVIOURAL OBJECTIVE: At the end of the lesson learners should be able to mention
at least three rules of safety.
CONTENT:
1. Do not play near the road. Always look right, look left, the look right again before
crossing the road.
2. Never go anywhere with a stranger.

(ii) Write the short sentence in your exercise book.
CONCLUSION: Correct learners’ mistakes and ask them to re-write when needed.
