PREFACE
In order to help customers to be familiar with the double-pump set and provide a
guide to operation, repair, maintenance, the manual gives a detailed description of
technical specifications, parts & components, structures, installation, operation, and
maintenance for this set. Proper application of the manual will assure normal
operation of the pump.
The manual is only a partial description of the set, and due to limited space, it is
impossible to explain all technical aspects clearly. To understand a detailed content,
you must read the service manual of 12-P-160 mud pumps.
In the manual, the left & right sides of the pump are determined by viewing the pump
from the back of the power end looking toward fluid end.

1. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The double-pump set is composed of two 12-P-160 mud pump drives which are
located with two pieces of positioning tube.

2. COMPONETS
The main body of the 12-P-160 double-pump set is two mud pump drives. The
12-P-160 mud pump drive is composed of drive system, belt guard, hoist, AQF- A
shear relief valve, liner spray pump, pulsation dampener, suction desurger, and cross
complete.
3. FEATURES
Power of DC motor is transmitted to the mud pump through a belt drive. The belt
guards are an all-closed construction for safe operation.

The main body of the mud pump drive is one horizontal triplex piston pump. On the
both sides and the front side there is a suction inlet. It is connected to the suction
piping. A suction desurger will be installed on a flange port to make suction smoother.
To improve suction, a charging pump shall be mounted on the suction line.
The discharge end of the pump is equipped a spherical pulsation dampener. Its
working pressure is 34.4 MPa (350 kg/cm2) and its capacity is 75L to make
discharged fluid smoother. For its operation and maintenance, refer to its operation
manual.
The inside diameter of liner has 8 grades, from φ139.7mm (φ5 1/2") to φ184.15mm
(φ71/4"). The increment of diameter is 0.25".
4. INSTALLATIONS
In installation, an alignment shall be made based on the small sheave: adjust the
axial position of the big sheave and taper sleeve on the pinion shaft to make sure the
big sheave is in line with the small sheave and the error in alignment shall not be
greater than 0.5mm. Upon alignment, tighten the bolts and weld the guides.
The length of multi-belts should be chosen. The error in length of the two multi-belts
for the same pump shall be within 10mm.
The drive system can be integrally moved by loosening or tightening the nuts on the
adjusting screws, thus assuring proper tension of the belts.
For installation, the foundation must be firm and level. Bolts shall be properly
tightened to ensure reliable and uniform make-up.
5. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
The power end of the mud pump shall be lubricated with closed industrial gear oil with
the addition of 10% #4 rust preventing agent:
In winter: L-CKC 220#
In summer: L-CKC 320#
The fluid end of the mud pump uses water or water with rust preventing agent.
Precharge the pulsation dampener with nitrogen or dry air. Do not charge with
oxygen:
a. The precharge pressure should be 20%~30% of the working pressure;
b. The precharge pressure should not exceed 60 kg/cm2.
First fill the power end with lubricant as specified and make an inspection of every
part and then start the electrically-driven spray pump. If they run normally, start the
mud pump.
At regular intervals inspect and retighten the bolts on the belt guards.

Preface
This parts list is specially prepared for pump drive on 12-P-
160. When placing an order for the pump drive components or
parts, the customer shall indicate the drawing No. ,description
and number of such components or parts as well as the model
and serial No. of the pump drive, so as to receive your
components or parts required even if any change arise in the
design. The company recommends customers to use the
replaceable parts made by us. Appling parts not belonging to us
may reduce the performance of products.
