Computer Science Projects Class 8th Prepared by : Sir Ali Raza(EST) 03029560405
Project 01 : Local Area Network (LAN) Model
Areas Covered:
1. LAN: A Local Area Network (LAN) connects computers and devices in a small area, like a house
or school.
2. Components of LAN: Computers, Router, Switch, Cables, and Network Interface Cards (NIC).
3. Types of LAN: Wired LAN (using cables) and Wireless LAN (using Wi-Fi).
4. Uses of LAN: Sharing files, printers, and internet connection.
Material Required:
• 2 or more computers
• Router (for internet)
• Hub/Switch (optional)
• Ethernet cables or Wi-Fi router
• Network Interface Cards (NIC)
Steps to Set Up a LAN:
Step 1: Setup Workstations (Computers)

Step 2: Choose the Type of LAN (Wired or Wireless)

Step 3: Connect Devices to the Router

Step 4: Configure the Network Settings

Step 5: Test the Connection

Step 6: After Successfully Setup, Share Resources in LAN network

Project 02: Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) Model
Areas Covered:

1. MAN: A Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) connects computers and devices over a large area,
like a city or a campus.

2. Components of MAN: Computers, Routers, Cables, Switches.

3. Uses of MAN: Connecting different buildings, offices, or schools in a [Link] resources and
internet across a large area.

Material Required:

• 2 or more computers

• Routers

• Cables (Fiber optic or Ethernet)

• Switches

Steps to Set Up a MAN:

1. Step 1: Prepare Devices with NIC

2. Step 2: Connect the Devices to router or switch.

3. Set up the Router to different switches and computers in different buildings

4. Step 4: Assign IP Addresses to each computer

5. Step 5: Test the Network

6. Step 6: Share Resources files, printers, and internet in MAN network.

Project 03 : Wide Area Network (WAN) Model

Areas Covered:

1. WAN: A Wide Area Network (WAN) connects computers and devices over a large geographical
area, like cities, countries, or even continents.

2. Components of WAN: Computers, Routers, Satellite Links, Fiber Optic Cables.

3. Uses of WAN: Connecting multiple LANs over long distances. Sharing internet and files across
different locations.

Material Required:

• Computers or Workstations

• Routers

• Fiber Optic or Satellite Cables

• Modems (for internet connection)

Steps to Set Up a WAN:

1. Step 1: Prepare the Devices with NIC

2. Step 2: Connect the Devices to router using fiber optic cables, satellite links or leased lines

7. Step 3: Set up the Router to internet among different locations

8. Step 4: Assign IP Addresses to each device in different locations

9. Step 5: Test the Network

3. Step 6: Share Resources like files and internet access between connected locations

Project 04 : Model of components of a network

1. Areas Covered:

• Devices: Computers, printers, servers, etc.

• Communication Medium: Wires, wireless signals.

• Network Types: LAN , WAN .

• Topology: The physical layout of devices in the network (e.g., bus, star, mesh).

2. Material:

• Cables

• Router/Switch

• Modem: Provides internet connection.

• Wireless Access Points (WAP): Allow devices to connect wirelessly.

3. Steps to Set Up a Network:

1. Connect Devices: Link devices using cables or Wi-Fi.

2. Set up Router/Modem: Place and configure to manage traffic.

3. Assign IP Address: Every device gets a unique address.

4. Test Connectivity: Check if devices can communicate

Project 05: Model of satellite communication

1. Areas Covered:

• Devices: Satellite, transmitter, receiver, and ground station.

• Signal Types: Radio signals or microwaves.

• Communication: Used for TV, internet, weather forecasting, GPS, etc.

• Orbits: Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), and Geostationary Orbit (GEO).

2. Material:

• Satellite: A device that transmits and receives signals.

• Transmitter: Sends signals to the satellite.

• Receiver: Receives signals from the satellite.

• Ground Station: A station on Earth that communicates with the satellite.

3. Steps of Satellite Communication:

1. Transmission: The transmitter on Earth sends signals to the satellite.

2. Relay: The satellite receives the signal and transmits it back to Earth.

3. Reception: The receiver on Earth gets the signal.

4. Processing: The receiver processes the signal (e.g., for TV, internet)
