Honeywell XLS3000 Programming Using VeriFire®

Tools
Complete step-by-step guide to program and commission a Honeywell XLS3000 Fire Alarm Control
Panel using VeriFire® Tools.

1. Requirements
Hardware: - Honeywell XLS3000 FACP powered ON - Laptop/PC with VeriFire® Tools installed -
USB or RS-232 programming cable - Access to Level 4 (Programming Mode) Software: - VeriFire®
Tools (latest version) - Compatible configuration files (.NCD or .N30)

2. Connecting to the Panel


1. Turn key switch to Level 4. 2. Connect laptop via USB or RS-232. 3. Launch VeriFire Tools →
Connect to Panel. 4. Confirm successful connection message.

3. Download Existing Configuration


Always download current settings first. Steps: - Panel → Download from Panel → Entire Panel
Configuration - Save as backup file (e.g., SiteName_Original.ncd)

4. Create or Edit Project


New Project: - File → New → XLS3000 - Enter site info, number of loops, etc. Edit Existing: - Open
.NCD file → Expand project tree → Edit loops or zones.

5. Add Devices (Points)


Right-click Loop → Add Device → Select Type → Assign Address → Name & Zone. Example: -
Address: 05 - Label: LOBBY SMOKE DETECTOR - Zone: 1 – Ground Floor

6. Configure Notification Circuits (NACs)


- Panel → Output Circuits - Name NAC1 = Ground Floor Sounders - Set Pattern (Temporal / March
Time) - Silenceable = Yes, Supervised = Yes

7. Cause & Effect Programming


Programming logic example: IF Zone 1 = FIRE THEN NAC1 = ON AND Relay1 = ON Advanced
logic: IF Two devices in Zone 2 active THEN NAC2 = ON

8. System Options
Menu: Panel → System Options Examples: - Alarm Verification Delay: 20s - Pre-Alarm Sensitivity:
85% - Silence Timeout: 5 min

9. Simulation & Validation


Use Tools → Simulation Mode to test logic before uploading. Check outputs and alarms behave
correctly.

10. Upload to Panel


After validation: - Panel → Upload to Panel → Entire Panel Configuration - Wait for 100%
completion and system reboot.

11. Testing & Walk Test


Panel → Test Menu → Walk Test. Trigger each device and verify correct response.

12. Generate Reports


Reports → Device List / C&E; List / Power Calc → Export PDF. Keep records for commissioning.

13. Common Issues


- Device Missing → Check loop address/wiring - Upload Fails → Wrong COM port or password -
NAC Not Working → Check cause/effect logic

14. Access Levels


Level 1: View only Level 2: Operator (1111) Level 3: Maintenance (2222) Level 4: Programming
(7777 / 9999)

15. Final Commissioning Checklist


- All devices labelled and responding - Cause & Effect tested - NACs operational - Batteries tested -
Configuration backed up - Reports printed and signed
