The Anointed One

Directions for Young Readers:

Welcome to “The Anointed One”! In this book, you will learn about a very special
person from the New Testament of the Bible, who is called The Anointed One. As
you read, think about how He taught people to love and be kind. At the end of the
book, I will ask you a question. Don’t worry, I will give you the answer a little later,
so you have time to think about it as you enjoy the story!

Chapter 1: The Special Visitor

In a small town called Nazareth, there lived a young man named Jesus. Jesus was
different from other people because He had a special purpose. He was known as The
Anointed One, a person chosen by God to do wonderful things. One day, Jesus went
to the Jordan River, where a man named John the Baptist was baptizing people. John
knew that Jesus was special and called Him the "Lamb of God."

As Jesus was baptized, the sky opened up, and a voice from heaven said, “This is my
Son, whom I love; with him, I am well pleased.” Everyone who saw this knew that
Jesus was truly The Anointed One sent by God.

Question Time

Here’s a question for you, young reader: What do you think it means to be The
Anointed One? How do you think Jesus will help people?

Chapter 2: Teaching with Love

Jesus began to travel from town to town, teaching people about God’s love and
kindness. He told stories called parables, like the one about the lost sheep. In this
story, Jesus said that just as a shepherd goes out to find a lost sheep, God will always
look for us when we are lost or need help. People were amazed by Jesus’ wisdom and
the way He made them feel special and loved.

One day, Jesus met a woman who was very sad because she had been sick for many
years. He gently touched her and said, “You are healed.” Suddenly, the woman felt
better, and everyone was filled with joy. They knew that Jesus, The Anointed One,
had the power to heal and bring happiness to everyone.

Chapter 3: The Greatest Gift

As Jesus’ mission continued, He knew He had to do something very important. He

talked to His friends, the disciples, and said, “I have come to give my life for
everyone, so that you can have eternal life and live in God’s love forever.” His friends
were sad and didn’t understand fully, but they trusted Him.

One evening, Jesus gathered His disciples for a meal. He took bread, broke it, and
said, “This is my body, given for you.” He took a cup of wine and said, “This is my
blood, poured out for you.” He wanted His friends to remember His love and the great
sacrifice He would make for them.

Chapter 4: A New Beginning

The next day, Jesus was taken away by the leaders who did not understand His
message. They put Him on a cross, and Jesus died. But this was not the end of His
story! Three days later, something amazing happened. Jesus rose from the dead, just
as He had promised. His friends were so happy and amazed to see Him alive again.
They knew that Jesus, The Anointed One, had conquered death and that His love
would last forever.

The End

Answer Time

Did you think about the question? The Anointed One is Jesus, who came to teach us
about God’s love, heal the sick, and show kindness to everyone. His greatest act was
His sacrifice, giving His life so that we could have a new life full of hope and love.

Now, think about how you can share love and kindness with others. Can you think of
a way to help someone or show kindness to a friend who needs it? Remember, every
act of love brings us closer to the joy and peace that Jesus shared!
