DIAGONAL TANK

Use any yarn and any needles


FRONT:
CO 4 sts
First row: RS: K1, YO, K2, YO, K1
WS (and ALL WRONG SIDE ROWS unless otherwise noted): slip 1 P-wise, P to end
Setup row: RS: Slip 1, M1, K1, YO, K1 place marker, K1, YO, K1, M1, P1
BOTTOM: RS: Slip 1, M1, K to 1 st before marker, YO, K1, slip marker, K1, YO, K to
last st, M1, P1
Repeat BOTTOM row until desired width of front (*note number of sts.)
SIDE: RS: slip marker, SSK, K to 1 st before marker, YO, K1, slip marker, K1, YO, K to
last 3 sts, K2tog, P1
Repeat SIDE row until you reach the desired length at sides
Divide for ARMHOLE shaping:
Bind off 4 sts, K to 1 st before marker, YO, K1, slip marker, K1, YO, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, P1
WS: Turn and bind off 3 sts, P to end
RS: Slip 1, SSK, SSK, K to 1 st before marker, YO, K1, slip marker, K1, YO, K to last 5 sts, K2tog, K2tog, P1
Continue as for SIDE shaping until center is desired length to begin neck shaping. ***
V-NECK: (approximately 3-4 inches after armhole shaping)
RS: Divide for sides A (right facing-see image) and B (left facing):
Side A: Slip 1, SSK, K to 1 st before marker, P, remove marker.
Picking a new strand of yarn to work:
Side B: Slip 1, K to 3 sts before end, K2tog, P1
Repeat V-NECK, working both sides A and B simultaneously, until 1 inch from desired length at side seam
(** note number of sts for shoulder)
SHOULDER SHAPE:
Side A: Slip 1, SSK, K to last 3 sts, W&T
Slip 1, SSK, K to last 6 sts, W&T
Slip 1, SSK, K to last 9 sts, W&T
Repeat this shaping until 4-6 sts remain before W&T (number of sts will depend on your sizing)
Work one RS row, then Bind Off all Side A sts
Side B: Slip 1, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, P1
On WS, Slip 1, P to last 3 sts, W&T
RS: Slip 1, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, P1
WS: Slip 1, P to last 6 sts, W&T
RS: Slip 1, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, P1
WS: Slip 1, P to last 9 sts, W&T
Repeat this shaping until 4-6 sts remain before W&T
Work one WS row, then Bind Off all Side B sts

BACK:
CO 4 sts
Follow pattern same as front , working BOTTOM, SIDE, and ARMHOLE until ***
BACK NECK: RS: Divide for sides A (right facing) and B (left facing) as follows:
Side A: Slip 1, SSK, K to 3 sts before marker, K2tog, P1, remove marker.
Picking a new strand of yarn to work Side B the same as Side A
Work these 2 RS rows until number of sts is the same as for front (** number of sts noted for shoulder)
SHOULDER SHAPE:
Same as for the front.
Sew together at shoulders and side seems.
Pick up and K sts around bottom and, working in the round, K 4 rounds, BO all sts loosely.
If you wish, loosely crochet an edge around collar and armholes to keep from stretching.

CO: cast on WS: wrong side
K: knit SSK: slip slip knit
P: purl K2tog: knit 2 sts together
YO: yarn over W & T: wrap and turn
St (sts): stitch(es) M1: make one st by picking up
strand between sts and knitting
