cleats 300 mm apart to minimize slippage.

When are guardrails required on a scaffold?

When platforms are 3.0 m or more above the ground.
When a person may fall the above distance while working through an opening on the inside
of the scaffold.
On the inside face of a platform when the scaffold is more than 300 mm away from the building
or structure being worked on.

What are the Occupational Health and Safety requirements for toeboards?
They must be installed on the open sides and ends of scaffolds that are more than 3.5 m above

[[ Construction Terms ]]
Kerf – the width of the blade

Block plane – remove edges of stock and material where needed

Wood rasp – is a coarse file use for removing wood, The file is used to shape, refine and to
smooth out surfaces, the rasp is used to take larger shavings of material off.

Cross cut – to cut across the grain

Infeed – the action or process of supplying material to a machine  outfeed

Butt joint – a joint formed by two surfaces abutting at right angles.

Miter joint – a joint made by fastening together usually perpendicular parts with the ends cut at
an angle.

Dado cut – three-sided trenches cut across the grain of the wood. A dado is a groove cut into
one piece of wood into which another piece of wood will fit snugly. For instance, when building
a bookshelf using 3/4-inch-thick stock, you might cut 3/4-inch-wide dado grooves into the shelf
uprights and then glue permanent shelves into the grooves.
A dado is a U-shaped, square-bottomed channel cut across the grain.
A groove looks just like a dado, but runs with the grain. A lot of people call a groove a dado I
think that’s OK – but imprecise.
A rabbet is an L-shaped channel cut across or with the grain. A rabbet is always cut on the
stock’s edge.

Cove molding – a molding with a concave face used as trim or to finish interior corners.

Window jam – the sides of the window.
