Sew the boobs to the pot with your preferred method. Use pins to keep
them secure. I usually set something inside the pot to help keep it shaped
while I sew them on. You could also attach them after you stuff and sew the
pot closed, but I prefer to sew them on before. Make sure to stuff the boobs
a little before you sew them on, and a little bit more before closing off.
Monstera leaf/ Option 1 of 2:
This option is for the slightly bigger monstera leaves, the second are for the smaller,
more simple leaves pictured in the main listing photo. If you want to see the plant with
monstera leaves, scroll down to page 9! Use a 4.5 mm hook and your choice of medium
weight yarn for the leaves. Click here for instructional video.
Step 1: Ch 5, place a stitch marker in the 5th chain from hook. Insert 1 dc in 4th chain
from hook. Ch 2, 1 dc, ch 2
Step 2: Insert 1 tr in same stitch, ch 2 picot. (ch 2, insert your hook in the front 2 loops in
3rd stitch from hook and slst. This should look like an upside down V) *Refer to pictures
or video.
Step 3: Insert a second tr into same stitch, ch 2, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc
Step 4: Ch 3, insert your hook into same stitch and slst. Remove your stitch marker from
the remaining chain, insert your hook and slst. Tip** For the last slst to secure the leaf, I
like to pull the top loop of the remaining stitch directly through the loop on my hook. No
yarn over or grabbing new yarn. This just looks better to me. This completes your first
leaf.
Step 5: Ch 12, place a stitch marker in the 5th chain from hook, insert 1 dc in the 4th chain
from hook, ch 2, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 tr, ch 2 picot, 1 tr, ch 2, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc
Step 6: Ch 3, slst to the 4th chain spot. Remove your stitch marker from the 5th chain and
slst. This will always be the nearest chain to the leaf, the stitch marker is an option if you
still need help. *Repeat (Ch 12, 1 dc, ch 2, 1dc, ch 2, 1 tr, ch 2 picot, 1 tr, ch 2, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc,
ch 3, slst, slst nearest chain)
You are going to do this until you have a strand long enough to lay over the pot and
create a strand on each side. For me, it was usually 12-16 leaves. (cont.)
I'm going to repeat this two more times, except for the 2nd and 3rd strands, I'm going to
pause half way through the strand about 6-7 leaves in, insert my hook with yarn still
attached, into the middle chain of the previous strand, yarn over, pull through the 3
loops and then continue to chain and do the remainder of the leaves. *Refer to pictures.
(Ch 12, 1 dc, ch 2.. etc) I connect the 3rd strand right on top of the previous join. This is
how I connect my bundles of strands. You should have a total of 6 strands at the end after
you've connected 3 very long ones. Please feel free to add more strands if you'd like it to
be more full.
Simple leaf/ Option 2 of 2:
Use a 4.5 mm hook and your choice of medium weight yarn for the leaves. Click here for
instructional video.
Step 1: Ch 5, place a stitch marker in the 5th chain from hook. Insert 3 dc in 4th chain
from hook.
Step 2: Ch 2 picot (ch 2, insert your hook in the front 2 loops in
3rd stitch from hook and slst. This should look like an upside down V) *Refer to step 2
pictures on previous page or video.
Step 3: 2 dc in same 4th chain spot. Ch 3 and slst. Remove your stitch marker from the
remaining chain, insert your hook and slst. This completes your first leaf.
Step 4: Ch 12, place a stitch marker in the 5th chain from hook, insert 3 dc into 4th chain
from hook, ch 2 picot, 2 dc
Step 5: Ch 3 and slst. Remove your stitch marker from the 5th chain and slst again.
*Repeat (Ch 12, 3 dc in 4th chain from hook, ch 2 picot, 2 dc, ch 3, slst, slst nearest chain)
Make 3 long strands, except for the 2nd and 3rd strand, you're going to attach to previous
strand midway through. *Refer to pictures above on this page.
Roses: Make 12 for 2 on each strand
Use a 4.5 mm hook and your choice of medium weight yarn for the flowers.
Step 1: Ch 8, insert 3 sc in second chain from hook.
Step 2: 3 sc in each of remaining stitches, this should spiral.
Step 3: Secure the flower by shaping it and slst through the visible stitches
on the bottom. (You can also sew it if you prefer.) Fasten off and cut your
yarn.
Assembly:
First, I'd like to mention that you can use ANY METHODS that work for
you to assemble this product. These are just the methods I use!
Attach your bundle of leaves to your soil. I simply insert a string through
the middle, and tie it to the underneath of the soil. (cont.)
Stuff the pot, then sew the soil to the pot going through the back loop
ONLY of the pot, and through the front loop ONLY of the dirt. *Refer to
pictures below. Insert and trim any ends. (cont.)
Attach your roses to your leaves. I do this by tying off the ends of the rose
and attaching it using a piece of green yarn. I insert the yarn through a
spot on the chain, again directly underneath it, then tie 3 knots and trim
excess yarn. Or, you can simply just glue these on!
Use stitch markers to mark 3-4 spots where you want to place your
hanging strings. Use the front loops of the pot that you skipped when
sewing.
Sometimes it helps to divide the stitch count by 3-4 to get a good idea of
how far they all need to be apart. I like to attach two right outside the
boobs and one in the back. (cont.)
With the main skin color, make a slip knot with your hook and insert it
where the stitch marker was and slip stitch, then chain to your desired
length. For me it was between 36-45 chains.
Fasten off and leave tails for tying at the top. Repeat this 3-4 times. Insert
and trim any loose ends.
Hold up your pot by the strings and make sure it's level. It helps by
making sure there are equal weight of strands on each side of the hanging
strings. Use the tails at the top to tie a tight knot right on top of the strings,
then trim any excess yarn.
