ASSEMBLY SCRIPT
Respecting differences
ANCHORING – OPENING
Anchor 1 (Rishith):
Good morning respected Principal Ma'am, teachers, and dear friends! Today’s
assembly is about a word that sounds simple… but holds great power — Respect.
Anchor 2 (Bhumi):
And not just any respect… but the kind that sees past differences — cultural,
physical, mental, emotional — and still chooses kindness.
Rishith:
Yes! Because let’s be real — we’re all different. We come from different homes,
celebrate different festivals, speak different languages...
Bhumi:
And we learn differently too! Some of us are fast with numbers. Some draw like pros.
Some use wheelchairs, hearing aids, or just need extra time to understand things.
Rishith:
But here’s the twist: None of that makes anyone less. Just… different.
Bhumi:
Which brings us to today’s performance — a playful but powerful skit titled
"Different. Not Less."
Rishith:
It’s about one classroom, one confused teacher, and many very unique students.
Watch closely, laugh loudly, and most importantly — listen with your heart.
“Different. Not Less.”
Scene: A classroom. A new substitute teacher, Mr Tam, enters holding a
clipboard.
Title: Superpowers Unseen
Theme: Respecting Differences in Abilities
Cast:
Max – Confident, sporty, loud
Tina – Expressive, loves performing
Leo – Funny, easily distracted (ADHD traits)
Ray – Quiet, logical thinker (autism traits)
Jamie – Smart, uses a wheelchair, into tech
Teacher – Playful and wise
Scene 1: The Classroom Challenge Begins
(Lights up. A classroom setup. Students are chatting.)
Teacher (enters with a box):
Alright, geniuses! Today, we’re skipping regular class.
Leo (whispers):
Is she okay?
Teacher (grinning):
You’ll compete in the “Superpower Challenge.” Solve puzzles, crack codes,
escape traps—teamwork required. The reward?
(opens the box dramatically)
A GIANT cookie. With your names on it.
Tina:
Sold.
Max:
I’ve got muscles, brain, charm. We’ll win.
Leo:
I have... snacks.
Jamie (rolling in):
And I brought... wheels and Wi-Fi.
Ray (quietly):
...I’m in.
Scene 2: Team Assembles... Awkwardly
(They huddle around a mysterious envelope.)
Max:
Let’s split roles. I’ll lead. Tina, distract with jazz hands. Jamie, do techy stuff.
Leo... keep morale up?
Leo:
I accept cookies as payment.
Tina:
And what about Ray?
Max (shrugs):
He’s quiet. Maybe background support?
Ray (calmly):
I have a photographic memory and I do logic puzzles for fun. But yes, let’s
ignore that.
Jamie:
Oooh, Max just got roasted by a whisper.
Scene 3: Puzzle Panic
(They open the clue: a coded riddle, strange symbols, and a locked box with
buttons.)
Leo:
This looks like alien homework.
Tina:
Or something my brother drew at 2 AM.
Jamie (typing on tablet):
Hang on, I recognize these symbols. They’re binary mixed with braille.
Max:
Wait, how do you even—
Jamie:
I tinker with tech. Plus, I’m a champion at online escape rooms.
Ray (reading quietly):
“The answer you seek is more than it seems,
In numbers and silence lie hidden dreams.”
It’s a layered cipher. Let me try.
(Ray taps a few buttons in order. The box clicks open.)
Leo:
NO WAY.
Tina:
How did your brain even do that?
Ray:
I like patterns. And quiet. Helps me think. That’s my superpower, I guess.
Scene 4: Shift in Mindset
Max (genuine):
Okay… you’re kind of amazing.
Jamie:
Told you. Everyone’s got something.
Tina:
Ray sees patterns. Jamie sees possibilities. Leo sees squirrels.
Leo (pointing):
WHERE?
Tina:
Exactly.
Jamie:
Hey, Max, what’s your power?
Max:
I thought it was being the loudest in the room…
(pauses)
…But maybe it’s learning to listen.
Scene 5: Facing the Audience
(They all step forward, facing the crowd.)
Jamie:
Not every ability is visible.
Ray:
Not every strength is loud.
Tina:
Not every dance needs music.
Leo:
Not every hero wears matching socks.
Max (smiles):
Real superpowers? They're everywhere.
You just have to respect the difference to see them.
All Together:
Respect Differences. Celebrate Superpowers.
(Lights fade out.)
All students cheer. Freeze frame with signs reading “DIFFERENT IS
BEAUTIFUL” and “BE YOU, BOLDLY.”
Bhumi:
What a class! Zack, Noah, Ryan, Aaron — and Lucky the Yak, of course — showed
us that what makes us different is what makes us powerful.
Rishith:
And you know what? Whether you wear hijab, glasses, braces, or have a different
accent — you deserve respect. Full stop.
Bhumi:
Today, we invite everyone to not just accept differences… but to celebrate them.
Rishith:
Speaking of celebration — let’s turn words into rhythm, colour, and joy. Up next, we
have…
DANCE PERFORMANCE 1: "Roots and Rhythms"
A blend of classical Indian, folk, and tribal dances to showcase cultural variety.
SONG PERFORMANCE: "We All Belong"
Uplifting group song with lyrics about unity, acceptance, and being proud of who you
are.
DANCE PERFORMANCE 2: "Limitless"
A fusion of contemporary and adaptive dance with wheelchair users, sign language
gestures, and synchronized moves to represent inclusion.
Bhumi:
Let’s make our school a place where no one has to “fit in” — because they already
belong.
Rishith:
And where “different” is never a reason to exclude — but a reason to connect.
Together:
Thank you — and remember: Different is not less! 💫
