1 JOB DESCRIPTION / GENERAL INFORMATION

Gas turbine unit 2C-004, a General Electric Frame 5002, was withdrawn from service for a
scheduled boroscope inspection. This Gas turbine - natural gas compressor unit is located at
Gasunie compressor station, location Netherlands.
The inspection work was carried out on 4 June-2021 in a normal 8-hour day shift.
The purpose of the Borescope Inspection was to locate and report cracks and other
abnormalities in the combustion and hot section of this unit. This report presents the typical
condition of the inspected parts and specific damages observed.

The gas turbine unit did not have borescope plugs installed. For that reason the primary fuel
nozzle from each of the 12 combustion chambers was removed to serve as a viewport for
inspection of the combustion and hot gas path of the turbine. The figure below defines the
numbering of the combustion chambers, as used in this report.

The condition of the following components have been inspected:

• 2nd stage variable nozzles
• 2nd stage buckets

We noticed that some second stage nozzle blades left rub marks on inner wall of nozzle.
