Gap Explanation
I passed the HSC examination and graduated 12th grade in October of 2024. After graduating
from 12th grade, I applied to several universities in Canada. I received offers from several
universities in Canada which I applied to. I made the decision to accept the offer from the
University of Victoria in January of 2025. After accepting admission into the University of
Victoria, I applied for a study permit to study in Canada in June 2025. Unfortunately, my study
permit application was refused by the IRCC. So, I could go to study in Canada. After my
graduation, I have spent this past year applying to Canadian universities and to IRCC for a
study permit. After being denied a study permit in Canada, I applied to Australian universities
this year. After my study permit to Canada was denied, I reapplied for a study permit in Canada.
And I also applied to universities in Australia for undergraduate study, since I became interested
in some universities in Australia, especially Monash University. After doing some research on
the courses offered by the universities in Australia, I became particularly interested in Monash
University. After applying to Monash University and a few others, my study permit to study in
Canada was accepted. The acceptance letter for Study Permit is included with this statement in
September. And I received an offer from Monash University in October of 2025. However, after
some sincere deliberation, I have decided to go forward with my application to Monash
University. The University of Victoria is a great and respected university with a high quality of
education. However, I believe the course offered by Monash University is a better fit for me and
my goals as a student. Monash is one of the highest ranked universities in the world. It is
renowned for its educational rigor and quality. The Bachelor’s of Computer Science course
offered by Monash University is highly respected. The course balances theoretical education
with practical, industry focused knowledge. The IBL program and Industry Studio Project and
Capstone Project are particular draw for me, as they provide students with practical, real world
experiences of working in the industry and help students build a strong resume. I believe
studying at Monash University will help me achieve my goals in education and career better.
This is the reason behind the gap between my graduation from 12th grade in 2024 and applying
to Australian universities in 2025.
