mass = 180 g mol-1) per 100 g of solution?
2. Calculate the amount of KCl which must be added to 1 kg of water so that the

75g of acetic acid, to lower its freezing point by 1·5°C. (Kf = 3.9K kg mol-1)

4. What mass of NaCl (molar mass = 58.5 g mol–1) must be dissolved in 65 g of

water to lower the freezing point by 7.50oC? The freezing point depression
constant, Kf, for water is 1.86 K kg mol–1. Assume van’t Hoff factor for NaCl is
1.87.
5. A solution of glucose (Molar mass = 180 g mol–1) in water has a boiling point of

100.20०C. Calculate the freezing point of the same solution. Molal constants for
water Kf and Kb are 1.86 K kg mol–1 and 0.512 K kg mol–1 respectively.

6. A 4% solution(w/ w) of sucrose (M = 342g mol-1) in water has a freezing point of

271.15K. Calculate the freezing point of 5% glucose (M = 180g mol-1) in water.

(Given: Freezing point of pure water = 273.15 K)
7. Calculate the temperature at which a solution containing 54 g of glucose,
C6H12O 6, in 250 g of water will freeze. [Kf for water = 1.86 K kg mol–1].

8. The vapour pressure of pure liquids A and B are 450 and 700 mm Hg
respectively, at 350 K . Find out the composition of the liquid mixture if total
vapour pressure is 600 mm Hg. Also find the composition of the vapour phase.
9. Will the elevation in boiling point be same if 0.1mol of sodium chloride or 0.1mol
of sugar is dissolved in 1L of water? Explain.
10. A 4% solution(w/ w) of sucrose (M = 342g mol-1) in water has a freezing point of

271.15K. Calculate the freezing point of 5% glucose (M = 180g mol-1) in water.

(Given: Freezing point of pure water = 273.15K)
