Problems on Single phase AC circuit

1. A supply of 400 V, 50 Hz is supplied to a series RC circuit. Find the value of C and


energy, if the power absorbed by resistor is 500W at 150V

200 V,50 Hz supply. The voltage across the coil is 130 V and across the resistance is 100
V. Calculate (i) Resistance and Inductance of the coil (ii) Power dissipation in the coil
and its power factor (iii) Also draw the phaser diagram.

9. A current of 5A flows through a non-inductive resistance in series with a choking coil


when supplied at 250 V, 50 Hz. If the voltage across the resistance is 125 V and across
the coil 200 V, calculate : Impedance, reactance and resistance of the coil, (ii) The power
absorbed by the coil, (iii) The total power. Draw the vector diagram.

2. A 3-phase star connected load draws a line current of 25 A. A load of KVA and KW

4. A balanced 3-phase star connected load of 100 kW takes a leading current of
