1. Scene: Inside a classroom. 1
Students are preparing for a group project. (Jay sits at the front,
quietly writing notes. Jolina helps. Danica scrolls on their phone.
Character 5 organizes materials. Maryline doodles. Character 4 is outside
for now.)
Danica
(loudly, smirking and whispering) “Why is Jay always in our group? They
can’t even bring proper supplies. What’s even the point?”
Maryline
(snickers) “Yeah, maybe they’ll just copy from others.”
Jay
(looks up, startled, voice trembling but firm) “T-that’s not true. Even
if I don’t have much, I’ll do my best. I stay up late to finish my work
because I want to help.”
Jolina
(steps forward, angry but controlled tone, hand on Jay’s shoulder)
“Danica, you need to stop. Jay works harder like most of us. ”
Danica
(rolls eyes, sarcastic tone) “Oh, please. You’re just defending him
because you’re friends. He’s out here acting like he’s the only
hardworking one.” (side eyes Jay)
Jay
(deep breath, voice breaking) “I don’t act like that. I just… (pauses,
clenches fist) It actually hurts when people think I’m less just because I
don’t have money. My family struggles, but I never let that stop me.”
Awkward silence. Jay wipes his eyes and decides to approach Ms. Rose, who
has just entered.
Jay
(soft but emotional voice) “Ma’am, can I talk to you just for a second? I
felt like I’m being judged because of my situation. No matter how hard I
try, I’m still looked down on.”
Ms. Rose
(puts down books, concerned look, soft tone) “Thank you for speaking up.
It takes courage to share your feelings. Let’s address this right now.”
(Ms. Rose turns to the class. Writes on the board in big letters: ‘RESPECT
= FOUNDATION OF LEARNING’] (firm but calm voice, pointing at the board)
“Respect is not optional—it is essential. Danica, words are powerful.
Instead of building walls, use communication to build bridges. Imagine how
you’d feel if you were in Character 1’s place.”
Danica
(fidgets, looks down, guilty tone) “I… I didn’t realize my words were that
hurtful. I just spoke without thinking.”
Rhed:
(steps in, reassuring smile, arms open) “This is why communication
matters. We’re a team. Every member brings something important—Jay’s hard
work, Jolina’s support, Danica’s ideas. If we combine our strengths, our
project will succeed.”
Maryline
(nodding) “Y-yeah… maybe we should stop joking around like that. It really
wasn’t funny.”
Jolina
(softening tone, looking at Danica) “All we ask is fairness. Jay deserves
the same respect as anyone else here.”
Danica
(sincere tone, turning to Jay) “I’m really sorry, Jay. I was truly wrong.
I’ll will do better.”
Jay
(smiles faintly, relieved) “Thank you. The thing is, I just want to be
treated the same.”
Ms. Rose:
(nodding, warm tone) “That’s the spirit. Remember—our goal is to
cooperate, not compete with who has more. Communication works best when it
lifts people up.” [The students exchange nods. The atmosphere shifts to
cooperation. Scene ends with them sitting together and planning the
project.]
