1. Simplify: 5x + 3x – 7x

2. Solve for x: 3x – 5 = 16

3. Factorise completely: 2x² – 8x

4. Expand and simplify: (x + 3)(x – 5)

5. A fair six-sided dice is rolled. Find the probability of getting a number greater than 4.

6. Write 0.072 as a fraction in its simplest form.

7. The ratio of boys to girls in a class is 3 : 5. If there are 24 girls, how many boys are there?

8. Find the gradient of the line joining (2, 3) and (8, 9).

9. Solve: 2(x – 4) = 10.


10. The area of a circle is 154 cm². Find its radius. (Use π = 3.14)

11. A = πr²h. Make h the subject of the formula.

12. A solid metal cylinder has radius 3 cm and height 10 cm. Find its volume. (Use π = 3.14)

13. Simplify: (2x³y²) ÷ (4xy³)

14. A triangle has sides 7 cm, 8 cm and 9 cm. Find its area using Heron’s formula.

15. The cumulative frequency table below shows the marks of 40 students. Estimate the median.

16. A car travels 120 km in 1 hour 30 minutes. Calculate its average speed in km/h.

17. Solve the simultaneous equations: 2x + y = 7 and x – y = 1.

18. Find the equation of the line that passes through (1, 2) and is perpendicular to y = 2x + 3.

19. Mensuration: A hemisphere has a radius of 7 cm. Find its total surface area. (Use π = 3.14)

20. A transformation T maps point A(2, –1) to A′(–2, 1). Describe fully the transformation.
