Some parents are not signing the consent form for their children’s participation in the
ARAL-Reading program, possibly due to refusal or lack of understanding about the
program’s objectives and benefits. Also, provision of adequate reading materials added
burden to tutors.

E. Recommendations/Action Points
In light of the issues and challenges encountered by the grade 5 tutors, the following
actions are recommended for improvement:
1. Conduct a short orientation for parents to explain the objectives, benefits, and
expected outcomes of the ARAL-Reading program.
2. Provide a simple, easy-to-understand information sheet along with the consent
form to address possible concerns.
3. Allow parents to raise questions during PTA meetings or through home visits to
clarify misconceptions and encourage their support.
