6 EBI Screen User Interface

This section describes EBI Screen User Interface (UIC) and operations which are commonly used by
operators. Some operations are available for all workstation but some are restricted to valid operators with
the right privilege.

The section begins with operator access to the User Interface Client (UIC) and related actions. It also
introduces EBI Screen System Manager Tool.

6.1 Starting EBI Screen UIC

When logged into MS Windows using ‘Operator’ username, the window as shown in the following figure
pops up and EBI Screen UIC is automatically started.

Figure 34: EBI Screen UIC application

100151953
Revision: C

To avoid the automatic start of UIC by a login, remove the check mark Automatic restart of UI in use within a
couple of seconds after the window has popped up. After that the UIC can be started by clicking the Start UI
button.

NOTE: EBI Screen OWS is configured to automatically start EBI Screen UIC application after logon to
Windows operating system. The right Windows username and password is needed for the system automatic
start. The detail about MS Windows username and password required can be found in EBI Screen
Installation Manual ref [2].

Figure 35: EBI Screen UIC is opening

As soon as the traffic light shows green, the blue dotted line stops moving in the bottom of the window
indicates that UIC is ready.

6.2 System Log in

When UIC is ready, the log in window pops up as shown in the following figure.

 Engineer1-4 (password: engineer1-4)
CAUTION: Password is case-sensitive, please change password after you login into UIC (see section 6.3).

After a successful login, the Operator Profile window appeared. In this window the information of available
Role and Authority Areas are shown. The Privileges list on the left displays the privileges associated to the

Figure 38: Operator Profile window

The roles, authority areas and privileges compose a unique operator profile which defines the operator rights
during EBI Screen sessions. The authority areas define areas in which the operator is allowed to operate.
Privileges define actions the operator is allowed to perform.

The OK button confirms the operator selection. The Cancel button closes the dialog without any selection.

NOTE: Without any selected role, operators are not allowed to do anything with the UIC. Therefore a valid

8 Commands and Indications

This section describes various objects operators can monitor and interact with inside EBI Screen UIC and
how they can issue commands to those objects.

8.1 Command Type

Commands are classified into two types;
 Single object commands

 Multiple objects commands

The single object command requires only one object as the command parameter, while the multiple objects
command requires two/three objects.

Regardless of the number of the parameter in the commands, commands can also be categorized by
behavior;
 Normal commands

 Critical commands

Normal commands can be executed right away while critical commands require command confirmation. After
an operator issued a critical command, the related object displays command confirmation required indication
(normally as a Flashing Yellow rectangle frame surrounded the object or Flashing text as for Crank Handle
symbol and text of counter digit symbol)

Following figures provide an example of handling a critical command.
