TUTORIAL ON HOW TO CREATE PORTABLES WITH WINRAR

Today we will see how to turn a program or a game installed on our PC into a portable version.
For our PC to run a little faster, or simply to carry it from one
computer to another a program or a game, we have the possibility to convert these
programs and games on portables. By doing this, although these programs and games are no longer
they are installed, they will work just the same and we will be able to use them normally.

There are a few ways to do it, but I think the best is with Winrar, since it is
the simplest and most reliable option I have found.

These are the steps to follow:

To access the program we want to convert into portable, we will need to open the
Windows folder where all the programs on our PC are installed.
The folder is called 'Program Files' or it could also be called 'Files of'
program (X86)

1st - We click with the left mouse button on the start button
2nd - We click with the left mouse button on 'Computer' as in this
If we are working with Windows 7. If your operating system is Windows XP,
You would have to click on 'My PC'

3rd - We click with the left mouse button on our C drive, which is where
Generally, the files of our system are located.

4th - We click with the left mouse button on "program files" (in
In some cases, this folder may appear with the name 'Program Files.'
X86
5th - We choose the program we want to convert to portable. In this case, we are going to
work with Ccleaner as it is a very simple example. To begin, we are going to
copy the entire program folder to another location on our PC. We click with
the right mouse button on the folder

6th - A window opens with several options. We click with the left button.
right-click on "copy"
7th - Let's go to our desktop and click on it with the right mouse button,
about a space that is empty

8th - A window will open with several options. We click with the button
left mouse button on 'paste'
9º - We already have on our desktop the folder that we copied from 'Files of
program'. We click with the left mouse button to open it

10th - Once the folder is opened, we will select all the files that are
they find inside. To do this, we click with the left button of the mouse on
Organize
11º - In the new window that opens with options, we click with the button
left mouse button on 'Select All'

12º - We have selected all the files in the chosen folder. Now we click
with the right mouse button over them
13º - In the window that opens with options, we click with the left mouse button.
mouse over "Add to archive..." Winrar will automatically open for us

14º - We already have Winrar open, which is the program we are going to use to create
Ccleaner portable. We click with the left mouse button on the checkbox that
it is to the left of the 'Create a sfx file' option (depending on the version of Winrar that
let's have, this option could also be called 'Create a self-extracting file') the
the checkbox is marked
15º - Now we click with the left mouse button on 'Advanced'

16º - A series of options appear. We click with the left mouse button
where it says 'sfx options' (if you have another version of Winrar it is possible that this option
it is called 'Self-extracting')
17º - New options appear. Right below 'Extraction Path', we have a
box. In it we write the word "temp" without the quotes (if you have another version of
Winrar, this option might be called 'Extraction Folder')

18° - In 'Run after extraction' we have to put the name of the file that
makes the program we are making portable work (when clicked on it).
This file has the exe extension written at the end of its name because it is an executable.
(its name is usually the same as the program's name followed by .exe). If not
we are sure what file it is since we do not see the exe extension anywhere,
It may be necessary for us to enable the option to be able to see the extensions.
19º - Here we have the example. Our program (the one we are making portable) is
it's called Ccleaner, and the file that makes it run is Ccleaner.exe ...

Therefore, in our case, we will write (in the box that indicates the photograph)
Ccleaner.exe.
20º - Next, we click with the left mouse button on 'Modes'

21º - In the options presented to us, we first click with the button
left mouse button on the box next to the option 'Unzip to a'
temporary folder" so that the box is checked.
Secondly, we click with the left mouse button on 'Hide all'
and this option will also be checked.

Finally, we click with the left mouse button on 'Accept' and

that window will automatically close.
22º - We still have another window open, to close it, we click with the button.
left mouse button on "Accept"

23º - We wait a little for Winrar to finish creating the portable...

24º - Now we go to the folder (with the program files) that we have copied
previously on the desktop. We click with the left mouse button on it
to open it

25º - Now with the folder open, we observe that there is a new file that was not there.
before. That new file is the portable program we have created. We can now
delete if we want the other files that are inside with it, which fulfilled their function
but that are no longer necessary. We can also uninstall the program that we have
converted to portable, since being portable no longer requires it to be installed.

We click with the left mouse button on the new file...

And that's it. We have our portable program running.

Easy, easy.
