TRANSCRIPT FOR TEST 1

Part 1
1. Which biscuits will the man buy?
I'm going to go to the supermarket.
Shall I get some more of those round biscuits?
filled with cream? I'd prefer chocolate ones.
The square ones, you mean? That's right. They've got chocolate on the outside.
2. What will Andrew do this evening?
Andrew, aren't you going to play tennis later?
We've decided to play tomorrow. I've got to be in town by 7.30.
Oh, you're going to see that band. Well, don't be too late back.
I won't. Have a nice time at the cinema.
3. Where will the family get on the bus?
It's only taken us two hours to walk up this hill.
Shall we go on to the lake?
It's too far for the children, and there's no bus back.
Let's follow the river to the village.
Why not? Then we can catch the bus back to the campsite.
It's only taken us two hours to walk up this hill.
4. What will the woman give the man?
I've bought this postcard to send to Sam. Do you have a stamp?
Sorry, I haven't got any left. Let me have the card and I'll post it later.
Okay, just let me write her address. Can I use your pen?

5. Which is Richer’s present?

Richard, come in. Everybody's here.
Happy birthday, Jean. You've got lots of flowers, so I've bought you a plant.
How lovely. Look, my sister's given me this new CD. Shall we listen to it?
Good idea.
PART 2
Emma: Hi, Kate. What about a game of tennis some time?
Kate: I’d like to Emma, but not today. I’m really busy.
Emma: What are you doing?
Kate: Sam’s got toothache so I’m going to take him to the dentist this morning …
Emma: Oh dear!
Kate: … and then mother’s going to the hairdresser this afternoon and I said I would
drive her home afterwards. Then after school Tanya wants me to help her buy some
new shoes. She doesn’t like shopping alone.
Emma: My daughter doesn’t either. You’re going to the concert this evening, aren’t
you?
Kate: I’m afraid not. But Len loves classical music, so he’ll go.
Emma: Oh good. By the way, has Tom started driving yet?
Kate: He’s having his first lesson today. He’s going to the driving school at
lunchtime. He’s really excited about it.
Emma: I’m sure he is. How’s your father? Does he still play golf?
Kate: No, not any more, but he’s started learning Spanish. Actually, he’s got a class
this evening!
Emma: Good for him. Well, perhaps we can go to the tennis club tomorrow?
Kate: Yes, OK!
PART 3
OK, everyone, listen carefully, please.
I want to tell you about our school trip to Newquay on Thursday. First of all, there are
ten people who still haven't paid. If you're one of them, please give £12.50 to the
school secretary. On Thursday, the coach leaves school at nine o'clock and will get to
Newquay at 10.15. The town's quite small, but it's very interesting and there's lots to
do. There's a large museum and also a very famous castle. When we're there, make
sure you look at the doors. These are 900 years old and are very beautiful. After
visiting the castle, we'll have lunch. We've decided the best place for that will be the
beach. There won't be time for swimming, but it will still be fun. The weather's going
to be hot and sunny, so don't forget to bring a hat. I'll bring some sun cream for us all.
In the afternoon, we'll explore the town and then return to school . OK. Any
questions?
