To Install the MSDE engine and then SQL Client tools follow the steps listed
below:
• Open up the file “[Link]” inside the directory C:\VTI
PC\MSDERelA.
• Copy the contents of the file to clipboard.
• Open up a DOS box* under the directory C:\VTI PC\MSDERelA and then
paste the contents that you copied from step number 2 and Press Enter.
*(You can point to the directory C:\VTI PC\MSDERelA then right click and choose
“Open command window here”)
1 Wait until Windows configures Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine.
When this installation is finished you be returned to the DOS prompt, in
which you can then type exit to close the command prompt window.
• Next browse to the folder c:\VTI PC\MS SQL Server Enterprise and
click on [Link] to start the installation.
• Follow the prompts on the screen. (All that will be installed is the client
tools since this is not a server.)
• Reboot, and then install SQL 2K SP4.
2 To install SQL2kSP4, run [Link] under c:\ VTI PC\Service
Packs\SQL sp4\.
