The SENNOVA system has two major programs for innovation and technological development:
Technopark and Technoacademy and develops four major strategies: applied research,
Technological extension, Promotion of business innovation, and Research in Training

What advances has SENA achieved in applied research?
Currently, the National Learning Service - SENA, as a training institution for
the work towards the comprehensive vocational training of its graduates has been
developing significant advancements in applied research. This is how to date the SENA
it has its respective InstituLAC on the ScienTI platform of the Administrative Department
of Science, Technology and Innovation–COLCIENCIAS, with 12 research groups
categorized and 117 groups institutionally endorsed.

SENA leads programs that seek to promote a culture of entrepreneurship, identifying
opportunities and business ideas, guiding towards innovators with the sources of
existing financing in the market and generate differential value, to create microenterprises.
The Research, Technological Development, and Innovation System (SENNOVA) has the
purpose of strengthening quality and relevance standards in the areas of research,
technological development and innovation, of the vocational training provided by the Entity.
Through this strategy, the Institution brings together the different lines, programs, and projects of
culture and innovation that it has within its structure, among them Tecnoacademies,
Technoparks, applied research, research in vocational training, programs of
promotion of business innovation and technological extension.
The entire SENA community is part of SENNOVA, an initiative through which
apprentices and instructors have the opportunity to participate and gain knowledge.
What does it do?
In order to strengthen competencies aimed at the use, application, and development of technologies
advanced, through the Tecnoacademies, SENNOVA generates a culture of innovation and
competitiveness in high school students.
In addition, the development of scientific research is promoted from secondary education with
application of new technologies as a pole of local and regional development.
SENNOVA also organizes events for the dissemination of science, technology, and innovation, such as
forums, seminars and conferences with experts, aiming for the country to have greater
competitiveness.
Objectives
To develop human capital with skills and abilities that enhance capacity
of innovation of Colombian companies.

Research
Applied research is a formative tool developed by SENNOVA through
different training projects.
The apprentice actively participates in SENA's research based on the following
instruments:
Research seedbed.
Applied research groups.
Development of applied research and development projects
technological through knowledge networks, in training centers.
Similarly, the Research in Vocational Training is a specific group that supports the
relevance model of the Institution in prioritized topics such as: data and statistics of the
training; costs and benefits of different training models; anticipation of
needs; technological monitoring and forecasting; and follow-up on graduates.
Support for technological development and to the
innovation
The applied formative research projects of the learners become new
technologies and productive opportunities. The Tecnoparque Colombia Network, through its
15 nodes are the central axis of the SENNOVA system and materialize the projects.
Tecnoparque is the link between training centers and the System of Science, Technology, and
Innovation.
Promotion of activities
SENNOVA has scientific and technological publications, as well as a manual of
intellectual property and a wide range of services available.
What is WorldSkills?
It is a space where technical students and technologists from all over the world compete in
national, continental, and world championships, to demonstrate their skill in
skills for work.
This strategy promotes the development of vocational skills and
they exchange knowledge that contributes to a better qualification of human talent.
