Definition of computer
It is the electronic devise which take input data from the input device stores and process it
and produces output is called as computer.

Difference between Hardware & Software


Hardware Software
The physical component of a computer that you A set of instruction, programme & the data that
can touch & feel. tells hardware what to do.
Eg, Internal Eg, Operating System
CPU,RAM,ROM,Harddrive,Mother Board Windows,MAC OIS

Moniter,Keyboard,Mouse,Printer& Word Processer & Web browser

1. CPU [Central Processing Unit]


 It is the brain of the computer.
 The speed of the CPU decide how fast your computer can perform task.
2. RAM [Random access Memory]
 It is a Computers short term memory.
 Stores data & programme currently being used so the CPU can access them
quickly.
 Data in RAM is temporarily, it is lost when you shut down the computer.
3. ROM [Read Only Memory]
 It is computers permanent Memory.
 It stores essential Instruction needed to start the computer.
 Data in ROM is not Erased when computer is turn off.
4. Hard disk drive
 This are the computers long term storage.
 Uses spinning disk to store data, slower but cheaper.
5. Solid state drive [SSD]
 Uses flash memory, faster more reliable but usually more expensive.
 Stores files, programme, and the operating system.
6. Operating system [OS]
 The main software that manage all the hardware and software.
 Allows you to interact with the computer.
 [Windows, Linux, MAC OS, Android, etc.]
 Handles files memory, devices & uses interface.
