REFLECTION NOTES

(School Learning Action Cell on Explicit Teaching Strategies in Reading)

February 8, 2024

I found Madam Madeleine L. Gabuya's discussion on Explicit Teaching

Strategies in Reading during the School Learning Action Cell (LAC) Session
incredibly insightful and informative. Her expertise and passion for teaching
reading, given her background as a Master Teacher, were evident throughout
the presentation.

Key Takeaway:

 The strategy involves:

1. I-Read: Teacher reads, modeling fluency and expression.
2. You-Read: One student reads, practicing fluency and receiving
feedback.
3. We-Read: Everybody reads together, reinforcing understanding and
building confidence.

Impact on My Teaching Practice:

 I'll incorporate this structured approach in my reading lessons to provide
clear guidance and support to students.
 This strategy will help me cater to different learning needs and promote
active participation.

Future Directions:

 I'll apply the strategies shared by Madam Gabuya in my own classroom,

monitoring student progress and adjusting my instruction accordingly.
 I'll share the insights gained with colleagues, contributing to a more
collaborative and effective teaching community.

Overall, Madam Gabuya's speakership was inspiring and thought-

provoking, providing valuable insights that will enhance my teaching practice
and benefit my students.
