Poems – Pre-Introductory 1

FANNY THE FISH The Bubble

Fanny the fish Baby blew a bubble,

Eats pie from a dish. And softly let it fall.
Fanny grows fatter, Like a rainbow fairy,
Than she can ever wish. In a silver ball.
Fanny the fish Pretty little bubble,
Finishes the dish. Won’t you stop and play?
Oh! Fanny, Fanny But the bubble, bubble,
You are a fat little fish. Bubbled right away.

I Love little Pussy Magic

I love little pussy, Little fairy lanterns,

Her coat is so warm. Hanging one, two, three.
And if I don’t hurt her, From the leafy branches,
She’ll do me no harm. Of the mulberry tree.
I won’t pull her tail, When the cocoons open,
Or drive her a way. Beautiful and bright,
And pussy and I, Gay butterflies will flutter,
Together will play. Out into the light.

Bubble says the kettle CATS

Bubble says the kettle Cats sleep anywhere,

Bubble says the pot. Any table, any chair,
Bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble, Top of piano, window ledge.
We are very hot. In the middle on the edge.
Open drawer, empty shoe,
Shall I lift you off the fire, Anybody’s lap will do.
No you needn’t trouble. Fitted in a cardboard box,
That’s just the way we talk, In a cupboard with your frocks.
Bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble. Anywhere. They don’t care.
Cats sleep anywhere.

THE CLOCK LITTLE NEST

Tick tock, tick tock, Little nest, little nest,

Tell the time true. Hidden in a tree.
Tick tock, tick tock, Babes inside, safe inside,
It’s half past two. One, two, three.
It’s time for work, When their wings begin to
It’s time for play, grow,
So it sings throughout the day. They will fly away you know.
Tick tock, tick tock, Higher than the highest tree,
Tell the time true. Oh! Dear me.

MY GARDEN LITTLE FISH

In my little garden, One, two, three, four, five,

By the apple tree. Once I caught, a fish alive,
Daffodils are dancing Six, seven, eight, nine, ten,
One, two, three. Then I let it go again.
Why did you let it go?
In my little garden, Because it bit my finger so.
By the kitchen door. Which finger did it bit?
Roses red are smiling The little finger on the right.
Two, three, four.

CLOUDS TRAFFIC LIGHTS

White sheep, white sheep, Stop, says the red,

On a blue hill, Go says the green.
When wind stops Get ready says the amber one,
You all stand still. Blinking in between.
When the wind blows That’s what they say
You walk away slow. And that’s what they mean,
White sheep, white sheep, We all must obey them,
Where do you go? Even the Queen.

ROLY-POLY PUDDING THE CLOCK

Roly-poly pudding, Tick, tock, tick, tock,

And black-berry pie. Merrily sings the clock:
Peter likes the pudding It’s time for work,
And Polly likes the pie. It’s time for play,
Which one do you like? So it sings throughout the day.
Oh! My! My! Tick, tock, tick, tock,
I like the roly-poly pudding Merrily sings the clocks.
And black-berry pie
